Rain of Arrows best AOE attack for bow?

I prefer rain of arrows over lightning arrow.
Due to what was mentioned in the above, Lighting Thorns will rape you.. hard.
and I hate relying on frenzy to take care of a rare if I've killed off the rest of the pack, RoA steps in and takes the cake for rares, bosses, etc.. really nice controlled damage, especially with concentrated effect. But if you want to have a relaxed play-style play LA, just be careful of that lightning thorns!

only question is if you need to remake as a fucking scion after release to make it work......

roa has very solid damage but if you are oneshotting mobs anyway roa is a poor choice - u can target multiple packs at once, where as split arrow excels at that

I find that RoA is better at start... but eventually I just run out of efficient ways to up the damage. There's added fire if you go physical, but that's not enough. There's WED if you go elemental, but that's inherently so inefficient considering the skill physical properties and mana cost of WED. Also you will need elemental damage gear to make good use of WED, which is not easy to get if you're a new player with no wealth. Then there's concentrated effect, but the radius reduction is annoying as fuck and you will want to increase it somehow... more investment in either passive, AoE support which will yet increase your mana cost a lot just to offset the bad side of conc effect...

Anyways, the point is that you will jump through hoops to make RoA work in mid/late game, and you end up with a skill that cost a million mana and does average damage.

If you do lightning arrow with lesser multiple projectiles and get some high pierce going with the piercing passive, proj. weakness and/or pierce support, then these 3 arrows can hit and pierce multiple targets each, which will all trigger the LA property of hitting additional enemies... a single shot of LA can net you an insane amount of hits when shooting a big pack. And it doesn't cost a lot of mana. Up the damage when you can afford the mana with added fire or WED, depending on build. Quality added lightning if you want shock stack craziness.

RoA is best for tight indoor maps like vaal pyramid, spider lair.
Split arrow + pierce is best for wide open spaces.
LA is between.

RoA has the best DPS potential, because it doesnt need any AOE support like Split (pierce or chain) or LA (LMP). But for clearing maps like gorge, cementary Split arrow is far better, coz you can off screeen.

If my thicket bow does 3-55 lightning damage and also has a stat that says 30% increased elemental damage with weapons, is that 30% already calculated into the 3-55 or is it an additional 30% to the 3-55?
