Actually this is how they plan for it to work:

Hillock will carry an axe, a tube of glue and a bucket.

If your character's male and you want to go female, he'll lop off your member with the axe and place it in the bucket, and if your character's female and you want to go male he'll superglue the willy from the bucket onto your character.

Immersion protected.

I also agree that making the Scion female was a bad call.

The vast majority of PoE players are male and male gamers have a strong preference to play male avatars by in large, if they have the choice.

I think down the line they'll be a choice of genders for all classes which will be good.

So we have:
Male melee.
Male melee/caster.
Male dd/caster.
Male dd/ranger.
Thats will be Mara, Temp, Shad and Due for you.

And now we have:
Feamale caster.
Female ranger/dd.

GGG deacide to do things a little more God Damn FAIR, and add Female Melee/Caster.
Here we go...

A male wanting to play a male avatar is not sexist.

Male gamers generally prefer male avatars and female gamers generally prefer female avatars.
