Oh noes, there is one mob in the game which is hard for totem builds.
As you pointed out, they already nerfed them.
They're fine.
Now, go flame me totemboys.

flaming as requested

the problem is, they are not only anti-totem.
they pretty much are anti-everything-that's-not-epic-gear-cookie-cutter.
also, not every totem is for Spork.
bitches break the purpose of Decoy Totems, by arcing from them at you.

Arc mages are pretty lame if you have 75% lightning resist. Just target them first and you'll be fine.

I usually have much more trouble from those armour-wearing rhoa blackguards.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

When you are playing maps, you should have a MINIMUM of 75% fire/cold/light res or you will get killed a lot.

When you are not playing maps (but Acts I-III), you should know what is coming, as each level always has the exact same monsters. Arc Mages do not suddenly turn up in the Terraces, but are always there in Barracks.

So when you enter levels that contain Arc Mages, you make sure you wear gear that gives 75% light-res. It is not *that* hard to find a set of gear that provides this (two Topaz Rings with Lightning Resistance as a mod will go a long way and are easily crafted with a handful of Alterations), even though this gear may not provide any resistance against fire/cold. If they still hurt, get the right flasks.

When you go to the next level, switch back to your regular gear.

90% of the content of PoE can be facerolled. The other 10% requires work. Arc Mages belong to the second category.

You mean things are actually hitting your sporker as if it were some crappy melee? My goodness, they need to fix this ASAP!

Ideas for Support Mobs

Necromancers: These are great. Change nothing.

Undying Grapplers: I think these should come in three flavors:
  • Becomes Frenzied when nearby kin are slain; Uses Flicker Strike; Casts Discharge
  • Becomes Empowered when nearby kin are slain; Casts Cold Snap; Casts Discharge
  • Gains Endurance Charges when nearby kin are slain; Casts Immortal Call; Casts Discharge
In all cases, you'd want to kill this support mob first. However, each one presents a different challenge with the same theme: charges.

Reanimators: These are also very good support mobs, and very similar to necromancers.

Whipping Miscreation: These guys do need their damage toned down. Whipping Miscreations should do about the same damage with Vulnerability as Piety's Miscreations do without Vulnerability.

Arctic Breath and Ice Shot: These are actually great support skills; moderate damage, but very critically a chilled ground effect. There actually is an "Ice Shot" support mob, as Docks farmers know, and this is great... but we need a monster that uses Arctic Breath.

Infernal Blow: I'd really like to see a "wild" monster that uses this skill; it would be pretty scary on its own, but have "Melee Splash" and "Attacks both Players and Monsters." The problem, of course, would be that melee monsters would flock to you (ignoring the Infernal Blow mosnter), then get detonated by Infernal Blow.

Blackgaurd mages do MUCH more damage with arc than they should no need for lengthy posts to justify it, simply reduce the damage arc does.

Hi

I agree with Moosifer in that the guards could have a look at instead, more then once they enter into a block lock and seem to have 100% block chance till I run away and come back, that is some crazy block entropy mechanics happening there.

The ArcBitches(some refer to them as arc mages but I don't) as much as I would like to agree on them being a issue and needing a good hanging from the nerf line, DON'T NEED IT. Sure their arc can be annoying from super far away but just run around a tent or cart that's in the area and they run over like cats and we all know what can happen to curious cats. I got around 65% lit resist on my lvl 73 char more then enough, just make sure to fall back for a sec or 2 when the shock stacks.

I can't stress enough that all creatures in this game have patterns, just get to know them and play them to your advantage.

P.S. Whipping Miscreations are a hindrance akin to a fly on a buffalo when you use a warding flask.

I agree that Arc Mages are OP atm. On Merciless. Normal and Cruel is nothing hard - the Arc lvl they cast there is not devastatingly high yet.

I have no problem as summoner or totemancer with them actually (arc totems + exploding skellis ftw!).

But OH BOY do they hurt as any other solo char!
1 or 2 of them is OK, but god help you if 3 or more spawn close together.

I've had my 3k+ 75% light res chars reduced to "resurrect" button in as low as 1 second while i was desperately trying to escape/chug anti-shock potion/evade charging blackguards. And if at this stage my char is less decked out (say, 2-2.5k hp and 50-60% light res), it's game over right there.

I've actually stopped doing barracks solo for this reason - too much hurt.

This is one of the reasons I tend to prefer arc mages over titty bithces as my #1 spectre choice as summoner.
hahahahaha just when i though i saw it all, someone complains about lightning mages again ... except its not about LT, its about their pathetic arc I can eat for days.

What you running with 600hp on merciless or something? Are you trolling?
