Difficulty Level Naming

Hm... idea is to convey a bleak, post-apocalyptic landscape where everything wants to kill you (and is quite capable of doing so), with one adjective.

Kinda tempted to suggest "Wraeclast" as the fourth difficulty name despite the fact that it's not an adjective (and despite the fact that innoruuk came up with something similar); it seems fitting, in a way, for the name of the hardest difficulty to be that of the continent your character is banished to.

I like your idea, I just don't know that it's renowned enough of a name for players to instantly identify with it.

I was thinking something more like Harrowing or Perilous. That way, it's relevant to most anybody that doesn't know the exact definition, yet anybody familiar will interpret it as something that can be dangerous, difficult, or even mentally anguishing.
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...
I don't know how well it would fit with the other difficulty names, but my suggestion is Purgatory.
The reality check difficulty scale:

Just lost a job.

Divorce.

Child Support.

Meeting the kids' new Step-dad.
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...
fear
blood
death
daycamp
i <3 minesweeper
Outcast

Exile

Hermit

You want to think about the perpose of the different difficulties, this gives meaning & essence to the game.

DOOMs difficulty scale was used to let the player know how extreme the situation would become.

Path of exile, do the developers want it to be about exile & further removal of the player self?

Is it a two-sided conflict (but who, the players enemy or it's own multiple existances)

I think the good vs evil 2 sides thing is cheesy especially since no ones does it seriously. And I think calling the 1st diffuculty HARD also more stupid than anything eles.

I like Bad, bad, and more grim bad.

I think its an interesting road for a game because as you do more and become stronger it is all to throw yourself into more *)*#$)# situations and come out covered in blood.

See what I'm saying? Here's my suggestions.

DISHEARTENING
NECROPHIC STRUGGLE
SATANIC PERSECUTION
TIME RAPED WITH OBLIVIANIC INTENSIONS
Have fun.
very easy

easy

not so easy

less easy

last easiest

this has to be a joke right? well, IT IS! :D

Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Path to Exile
My little tribute to Diablo 1 aka why Diablo 3 is the worst part of the series.

I think it mostly depends on what feel you want to have for the name..
Looking at it (Hard, Cruel, Ruthless)
either Merciless or just Brutal would fit..
