That's actually a good idea. Perhaps, if after the release we have a complete storyline until Act III (finished), they'll do something like that. But first they would have to find a writer, this author has to write the book etc.
I think it's going to take a long while before we could read a book. But yes, it might be great. There's all sorts of stuff that could be written.
Stories from the old Empire, the stories of the characters before they were exiled to Wraeclast ...

No, no --- I'm just fine with GGG using the resources towards improving the game. Does that include expanding the lore in game? Yes. Do they need to spend the resources garnered on hype outside of the game? No.

Define "good"; I was left pretty disappointed with the Diablo book series spin-off clusterfuck that its become. They're not poorly written by any means, the subject matter is just... ambiguous.

Some of the Warcraft books are good, but that's only because it takes a step deeper into solid lore characters.

Diablo/PoE are ARPG's, you're supposed to be the main character in the storyline, so it's harder to remove yourself from that role and still enjoy a story.

Sheesh, PoE lore...

Well there's a guy named Kaom, he was a tough barbarian (Karui?) leader or something. Then there's a girl called Shavronne, she wrote a book while in prison and wore some really OP uniques. I think she came from some city called Sarn where they put gems into people and they all went nuts. Before Sarn there was this Vaal civilization who built some wicked chaos damage spitting things and one big vaccum cleaner who was able to block the sun.

No seriously, there's interesting lore and backstory in PoE but it's just hard to put all the pieces together...

Dev said about years ago that they had many webpages for the lore prepared and they planned to release them after the full release. They just didnt think that was on the priority.
