Why are there no physical bow skills?

My first ranger used Puncture and still does. Level 69 and haven't played her in a while. Used Explosive Arrow + LMP for AoE. Worked pretty great. I tended towards higher phys damage per hit (not per second) in order to make the crit punctures really potent (and if I remember correctly they could take either 50% or 100% life from a rare Piety's Miscreation in a single hit... when I crit, that is)

Wonder if she could take on Piety solo now. I asked for help last time I killed her, I think. It'd be hard since I'm using pretty trashy gear and don't even have close to max resists.

So, consensus is that we should just use frenzy or puncture as a physical ranger?

I haven't played in a couple months; would someone please explain how the recent ranger skilltree changes affects physical bow rangers?

If you use a physical bow, any skill that scales off of your physical damage will work well, which is most of the bow skills.

If you have some particularly random fetish about dealing exclusively physical damage with your physical bow, then use Split Arrow or Rain of Arrows as your main pack clearing attack and frenzy for your single target

I still don't even understand this thread.

We need more bow skills that scale off of projectile damage and NOT physical damage. As of now there's only 1 or 2, meaning the bow skills are mostly completely dominated by physical bow skills.

Chance to flee should be increased, it is so rare that a monster runs away.

Thing is though there are so many skills that should be able to work with other things but don't due to the weapon class restrictions, Bows being one example whilst unarmed being another...Less weapon class restrictions on items=more diverse builds?

Puncture and frenzy are both pure physical attacks that can be used with bow, split arrow and rain of arrows for aoe.
As a daggers user I literally had whirling blades for aoe up until reave came out and that one is buggy, you should be happy with the ones you have :(

EDIT: and cyclone which also sucks and was also buggy
my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

What about lightning strike? That was what inva used on his crit dagger builds
