Where GGG failed?

Diablo 3 is steadily patching out its mistakes and improving itself while POE refuses to budge at all.

thats such utter bullshit its laughable. PoE has changed more since January than D3 has changed since launch. All D3 has done is announce theyre taking ideas from PoE and adding them to D3. The D3 expansion is not a patch, they havent patched fuck all worth talking about in that game, the expansion will not come before PoEs full release, this game already has more content, and will be adding even more content still while Diablo sits there rotting waiting for an expansion to give the game what it should have had from release, what PoE will have on release, a proper game.

You are talking utter nonsense out of a sense of fanboyism, that sort of bullshit might fly between your ears but its not going to fly on a forum.

If you look closely i think you can see someone trying to make an argument.

For the rest of you, Diablo 3 has been changing core gameplay mechanics since release. While its solutions may not always been the best Blizzard gets kudos for TRYING at the very least. And Last time i checked the Nephalem Valor system system wasn't copied from POE.

Meanwhile POE has been making small bugfixes and adding CONTENT, not changing the game.

You also admit that Diablo has been copying good aspects POE. Shame on them for attempting to make Diablo a better game! Blizzard is OK with admitting it has made mistakes and copying another game. POE is free to try but every time someone like me suggests a gameplay idea inspired by Diablo 3 it immediately gets flamed and trolled into oblivion. You have idiots like youself to blame.

so go eat a dick.

An ARPG (Hack and Slash) is not only about "grinding" or "farming". People who say this have no idea what they're playing

That's right! It's about a thinly veiled plot line where you go out and kill stuff so that you can progress your character build and go out and kill other stuff to finally achieve the ability to kill something which is the ultimate goal and thereby achieve an ending that has no real meaning or reward!

Wait... why the hell would anyone want to waste time doing that?

Crap maybe a meaningful trading system, better crafting, and a better reward system are important after all :(

If you honestly think that, then go away and play D3.

In my view, GGG's biggest failure is not giving me a million pounds. And beer on tap, and the life I crave, and robots to clean up my house, and a jumbo jet... and on and on.

Imagine how difficult it is to make a game that caters for everyone. The hardcore losers, the noobs, the L33T players like me... now, wheres my beer?

god I love dem over-the-top troll posts.
you will learn, young one. you will learn.

nonono, you got me all wrong. Im legit bro, would I lie to you?

All, I suspect, that will happen in this thread is it will become: D£ verses PoE
(the pound sign was a mistake, but a good one)

So, I guess we will all have to wait a bit longer for that perfect game to enter our lives.

Just a hint.

People didnt quit the game, they simply took a break. When you played a lot since CB or OB start you ended up chaining maps you have been chaining for over half a year by now. It gets tiresome, especially when no new content at all is released, the uniques are pretty lackluster because they usually dont enable endgame builds, this season has the most boring races ever (barely any descent or endless ledge just a bunch of turbo races).

Diablo 2 was different regarding that matter. PVP existed which was the only reason to really play the game for a longer amount of time. LOD added a new act and a shitton of other stuff, binding people to the game itself.

GGG simply cant keep up with the content that is required for people who farm endgame to stay interested in the game so most are taking a break, playing other games until they finally patched in new areas and maps.

Theres no reason to play the games in its current state except for doing a race once in a while.

I think your right. I have done this myself and I dont think GGG has anything to worry about, they have a top game here, its easily as filled and awesome as any other AAA title. In fact, waaaay better than MANY AAA titles that I will never, ever play again.

If they do not make playing more rewarding, at least in shorter 4-6 month leagues, fewer and fewer will return from these "breaks", and for shorter periods each time as well.

Been saying this for ages, it's simply not fun enough when you are overly starved from loot/currency. Nothing else.

yes, you seem to be switching "suffering from bad game design" with "entitlement".

A lot of people in this forum seem to do that. It's sad how they can't tell the difference really. But hey, if they can grind docks and Lunaris till they get to 'endgame' and spend the product of their grinding on good gear.........I guess that makes them talented HC players.

It's amazing how quickly everyone forgets.

I can't wait to see the exodus from D3X to POE. Personally I think GGG should wait until 2-3 months after D3X comes out to release, same thing they did with the open weekends last year. Wait until everyone is sick of D3, looking for something similar but better and then boom, POE release.

BTW guys, every patch GGG puts out changes the game. The bugs they fix, the small changes they make to skills/mobs/mechanics and even the uniques (lower lvl ones too) have a large ripple effect on the overall tone of the game. You won't notice it in the short term but over the long term it's incredible. I remember when cleave was the shittiest melee AOE, when physical bow builds were virtually unheard of, GS was ruler of all melee builds and you're build was shit if it didn't take BM.

People leave games all the time. I'll talk from my perspective, I'm a binge gamer. I'll play a game 8-16 hours a day for 1 week to a max of 1-2 months, if it's awesome. I played POE for almost a year. There comes a point where you've done most of everything you can do and need a break at least. I just came back yesterday after 2-3 months off and I'm seeing people I haven't seen since CB or early OB. What other games do this? I'm talking guys with lvl 80 toons, one at 88 after 6 months off.

The life of the game is fine. GGG know how to keep it interesting. I think there is still work to be done but if you think this game is dying you're sadly mistaken.

No, it really isn't.

I've never seen a game company get more chances than Blizzard. I really haven't.

Probably because nearly no one can keep up.

I quit Diablo 3 after the first 7 days because there was nothing left for me to do due to having cleared Inferno and the game constantly disconnecting my HC characters.

But in the end a lot of people started to play PoE in January was because D3 wasnt close to being as good as everybody hoped. Now that people start running out of content they obviously will try D3 again because in the end, even though Blizzard fucking up big time, they never fucked up as hard as EA or Biosoft. They always released quality products, even Diablo 3 was a really good game. It simply lacked replayability.

I wont touch the expansion but I can understand why a lot of people will. Because even though it might be disappointing you can be sure that it will be entertaining for at least a a couple months. And since content in PoE is far from close to be added its not really hard to understand why people switch games again.
