you will never know what the true transaction rate f.e. between exalteds and chaos in a league really is because here is no statistic about deals actually made over a certain time frame.
the fact that external websites post rates or people post certain conversion offers in trade chat does not actually mean they want to make deals using that rate, it's likely they just want to to manipulate the exchange rate. you learn about it if you actually want to trade and they say: "sorry bro, too late". at the current game state it's really easy to manipulate the market, especially by a larger player group pooling their currency, doing planed announcments and conversions. they can even make some real deals with higher or lower rates and compensate for their losses later. been there, done that but in other games. for example we were pooling a high amount of a certain currency over a longer time frame, then some players would offer high bids for that currency and really buy some amounts of it of the market, the price would go up and the others could sell their buffer for a high price until the price normalized again. it also works the other way around, you can collect a larger amount of a currency then flood the market with it, bringing the price down which allows other in the group to buy at the low price until the pices normalises. you can't really prevent market manipulation but it would be easier to recognize it by maintaining a official games log about actual currency transfers for orientation and/or less harmful if there were ingame traders recipes for converting all currencies. one method to really prevent it is to make currency account bound after it was found and a certain time passed (maybe a week). this would also enforce people crafting and trading gear for gear. unlikely that it is implemented. people want to be "rich" which really means they want to have ingame power (to dominate the market). what else? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

The devil idea of making some traders friends with whom we would domninate ALL the market crossed my mind, and i was not sure if some group was doing it.. That's what I figured, was market manipulation. Seeing the trade blasts and then the exalt to chaos drop so rapidly (seriously, in about 9 days time it dropped from 50 to 40 or even 36) was apparent.
yes, Anarchy is ending but technically there's 25% of anarchy left. That impatience to standardize to standard what really is still early seems a bit harsh. It sounds like people are blasting the lower prices, not selling the exalts and waiting for someone to replicate so they can buy them. This ebb and flow would mean that the chaos to exalt will dip then rise back in a couple weeks. It's just very incongruent with other currency at the moment. GCP is all over the place. I think the 20% gem recipe was an extreme overreaction. I'd rather spend an exalt's worth of GCP (was about 20 at one point, even at 16 or 17) bumping up quality of a leveled gem than spending an exalt on a 20% that needs to be leveled which takes tons of time. What's the current rates (roughly as seen) in standard? hardcore leagues have always been different and don't really have as much influence to me. exalt - gcp - chaos - fuse - eternal are the rates I'm curious about. -------- also, my personal opinion would be I'd rather have the rates vendor controlled than market. I haven't played these types of online games before. (was stuck on console solo or with friends utilizing the other controllers play ever since I got my first nintendo when it first came out).
