Whynot Boss Drop Tables?
![]() The actual use of the items in the example are meaningless but the rarity of the drops are not. The problem path of exile has (like most action rpgs) is that completely random is.. too random when you are doing the same things over and over. I am not suggesting to completely take all the randomness out of the game but just add on top of the current random system drop tables for bosses. That would keep the randomness while giving something specific for players to look forward to finding. For example "The Blacksmith" boss of the dunes would drop everything he normally does (ilvl 66 items / currency / gems / maps) but also a chance to drop the items from the image. Level 21 Leap Slam - An extremely rare drop gives a reason to people to farm that boss specifically / something specific to pray for to the rng gods while doing that map. I know I love farming for things that I know I will eventually get.... (Spent 60ish hours soloing demons in Tibia a few years ago just to get a magic plate armor, and around 80+ hours getting abysmal knight card in ragnarok with trash farming char) Broken Shiversting Piece - 4.00% chance is rare but not too rare that you would never get it for the unique vendor recipe. Eyeball - In my example I said it was a level 80 End-Game Map recipe ingredient. With a 15% chance to drop the players doing high maps would not want to waste time doing low maps for the map recipe ingredients. That would give the people who actually are doing those maps some reliable useful items they can sell for currency. Which would make people less afraid of using the currency they have. Diamond Whestone - Something common but useful to drop from the bosses. That would give everyone something to look forward to no matter how bad they think their luck is. My example was an improved version of a whetstone. Slightly improved versions of some currencies only dropped by bosses would not ruin the game.... I think. Anyway the item is not the point but the rarity/usefulness. People like to say things like "Path of Exile is not an mmorpg" when mmorpg features are suggested. But what actually is wrong with adding some of the best features of an mmorpg to Path of Exile? Most fun games that have come out in the last few years have been mixing genres. Drop tables may not fit exactly with the way the End-Game map system works but without knowing the other system GGG plans to use for EXPing at higher levels it was the only thing I could use. I really believe it would take out the grindy feeling everyone has when playing after a long time. Some quick reasons for loot table -Farming is a lot more fun when you hunt for something specific rather than hoping for something good in general but completely random and most likely not needed by you. -Even if you do not get what you are hoping for from the loot table you still know eventually you will. -Doing the same thing over and over will feel less grindy. Some quick examples of what loot tables can have -Unique vendor recipe ingredients -High lvl End-Game Map recipe ingredients -Cosmetic effect recipe ingredients (although not sure about that since it would compete with GGG's $$$ earning) -Gems only obtainable from end-game bosses -Level 21 gems -Map Recipe ingredients used to face umm.. super bosses.....? Would require so much time to set specific items for every boss, as well as making of certain items and artwork and whatnot |

I was like
![]() when i read this. Pretty cool ideas! Although i think Eyeball and Whetstone % are a bit too high. "If we don't end wars, wars will end us."

agree that Bosses should have a Treasure class and/or a Loot table
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it

You got my +1.
Thing is, everything is completely random on this game. Sure you could farm Merciless docks for that infamous Shavronne's Wrappings but end up getting a Soul Taker instead. That's the name of the RNG game when it comes to path of exile. There's no "set" drops for any mobs so farming can be done anywhere you'd want as long as the monster level is high enough to match the item level of the item you're trying to find. That's why it's "grindy" as you say. There's no control of the drops you can get but eh, I guess that's what Diablo 2 was all about as well. The pure randomness of the drops. As for Tibia, yeah those demons sucked and farming for a MPA was a task for sure. I still remember finding the Paladin armor from my first lol. But that is another "randomness" you'll have. I think they should set some items to drop only from a certain boss. Yeah, the information would get out quick; but at least the task wouldn't seem pointless as it does in the docks most nights. It's almost like having a second job lol |

Nothing really new.
Make it like a table. I don't remember precisely, but I modded Diablo 2 ages ago. Every drops was, like, a table. Drop Low Act 1: contains Drop Low 1 (35%), Drop Low 2 (35%), Drop Low 3 (20%), Drop Medium 1 (10%) Drop Medium Act 1: contains Drop Low 1 (25%), Drop Low 2 (25%), etc. etc. Then all these sub-drops contained the actual items Drop Low 1: contains Scrolls Drop (50%), Shit Items (50%) Then again Scrolls Drop: contains Wisdom (50%), Portal (50%) Don't know if you got me And then of course the bosses had some specific drops, but not something really UNIQUE to them (not a good thing IMO) I hope they fix something for the drops because it's really ridicolous. I runned Docks ten times in a row, two rares. After some minutes I opened a chest and found a Chaos Orb. Meh (oh and I had like 60% rarity plus 32 or 34 from the orb) i like this game. i mean have you seen how powerful is the barbarian

" pretty much this :D it would be so great if bosses or mobs in certain areas had some kind of loot tables like this!! I am not saying we should rebuild the loot system from scratch as the RNG thing even tho it annoys some people it surely is interesting! Even tho as the tittle says why not Boss drop tables (too)? Let them still drop random stuff but add some items that have higher chance of being dropped from the boss! Its not bad at all having an objective and knowing what u are farming for , it just seems an epic idea to me :D. I think we already have something like this with Piety right? I know for sure she once got a buff to map drop chance so doing the same with most of the bosses wouldnt be impossible right? I am really curious what GGG thinks about this , i hope everyone realises this needs quite a bit of time but we can at least hope we can see this implemented one day :D Patch 1.1 :P Last edited by MadBro_#7856 on Sep 3, 2013, 4:56:55 PM
