Raids / Dungeons for endgame
DO NOT THINK I WANT THIS CAUSE OF WOW.
(please read and think about it before you start flaming) Hello, as many of you know... Maps only take you so far, but for now you can get to lvl 60 and start doing maps in less than 20-30h? So it takes about 30h for you to reach the current endgame. I know act 3 will make this take a bit longer, but anyway. Current bosses/rare mobs take 2-4 seconds to kill.... and for now the endgame is to farm maps and gear to do maps. I bet this isnt the first time someone suggests this, but think hard raid bosses in PoE. The possibilities are limitless. Imagine bosses that take 20-30min to kill with X amount of players, hard tactics that arent repetive like current oversoul and others. Every 2 min the boss would start using a new skill etc etc. And ofc make skills deadly, for example if you walk over a wall of fire you take 80% of ur hp in damage or smtn. MAKE THE GAME HARD AND FUN FOR US. Ofc the bosses would drop something but that would be up to their decision. Only reason im suggesting this is cause i got bored of maps after doing couple of them and hard + difficult bosses are what keep other games fun. Yes i know the game is free 2 play and i shouldn't expect much from it. But if you want to keep people playing this game for long periods of time, you have to come up with something Sorry for my english. There is a technical limit to how many players can be in a single instance, so what you are proposing is more like 'much more durable bosses with complicated tactics'.
Complicated tactics work well in WoW because the amount of damage all chars can take and live is streamlined and the area in which the encounters take place is much larger (when compared to the size of chars and aoe spells in respective games). Also there is very little you can actually see when playing PoE. I spend most a of Vaal fight too far away to see him on the screen. This rules out a huge part of complicated tactics, since they often rely on reacting to what you see the boss doing. I don't know about GW2, but most MMOS that have raids seem to have healers too. PoE doesn't, so either the raid bosses would distribute damage in a uniform way, or be weak enough to allow a tank to survive those 20 minutes of taking a beating, which also means any mistakes in tactics would have to be forgiveable (try making no mistakes for 20 minutes in this type of a game...), while now (for me at least) not reacting to Vaal's lazor fast enough means quite a sudden death. As far as WoW goes, a boss gets killed after 3-4 (sometimes 10...) attempts, which end in the whole raid dying if not successful. With death penalties and how much grind is required to reach higher levels, this again can't be an option for PoE. BTW- should I quit PoE and play hello kitty or something? I have yet to kill an act boss in less than 45 seconds (currently on ruthless). |

" You should expect less because it is still in beta, not because it is free to play. Still in closed beta in fact. Do not mistake it for a finished game! The devs have shown great skill in building a fine game, and have shown no sign of slowing down. Let's wait and see what they come up with next; I have yet to be disappointed. Oh, and if you want it harder, try hardcore. not enough time for gaming! Last edited by zinger#5527 on Sep 21, 2012, 4:16:22 PM

" hardcore isnt hard :P played on the first 1 week hc race and got to 71, quit PoE after that till the game goes to open beta. |

I'll quit as soon as there's something in this game that can't be soloed. Not a fan of the idea at all. This is not a game about hard and difficult bosses.

" You have come across a quite the opposite game i fear, better yet you should be sure before writing this. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"

Well its sure that something has to be added to the endgame cause it doesn't last for very long atm. This is just my suggestion and as many people see the game in different ways, everyone have their opinions. This just my opinion

" ^This. I've played many, many MMOs. They all use a bait-and-switch that I loathe, by letting you solo to the end and then requiring you to group up to get the best loot. Every single one. If the game is fun, I inevitably play until I run into the fracking raid-or-die content wall, and then quit. It's fine to have some games like that, for players with that preference, but even after 15 years of MMOs I've never understood why they all have to be that way. In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

Having some content that is not possible to solo isn't bad (this is coming from a guy who has quit many games because they forced me to party too much). As long as that content doesn't have like the best set of equipment in the game or something. End-game should have multiple choices of different game play types which all have advantages and disadvantages of doing so no one feels like if they do something they enjoy they will be earning a lot slower than if they were doing something they hate.
