I wish PoE was like Titan Quest
Make the 'rare wealth mod' spawn more often and give that monster a visual effect like a big shiny sword.

TQ was a great game, better than D2. It never got the credit it deserved. This definitely would be a nice change.

The bad thing about the system though is that certain weapons could only be found from certain enemy types - you can't get a unique sword from a snake enemy for example - so although it did allow you to farm specific areas for specific gear, it also limited the 'wow' factor from total RNG.

" TQ has a "realistically-biased", "risk and reward"(*) RNG which is awesome. TL and TL2 have the "wow" factor from a total RNG, biased to create "risk and reward"(*). PoE has "wow, I got nothing yet again" factor from over-the-top RNG, dominating everything. I think by now, most of you agree with me that this has to change, and it really doesn't matter which model should be followed to make the change. but GGG won't do it. they want to keep players addicted. keep the Gambler's Fallacy alive. if you no-life TQ or TL2, you will have all the class-best and BiS gears eventually. PoE is more "competitive MMO" about this than ARPG. "competitive" in the "who has better luck" and "who's a better flipper/scammer" sense. some like it. I don't. I think "rich" == "good in game". GGG allow "rich" == "lucky newbie" == "scam-master" == "economy player who never did accomplish anything in the actual content".
(*) risk and reward
1) if monster X is stronger and/or higher level than monster Y, you can expect it do drop better loot. if you got most of your uniques/awesome-rolled rares from trash mobs and barrels - raise your hand. if bosses gave you mostly useless junk and rares trolled you by dropping either nothing or 1-socket whites - do it again. *raises hand x2* heck, I had a crazy ele-reflect, Multiple-Projectiles, Immune-to-curses Voidbearer drop stuff the vendor offered scroll fragments for. 2) awesome BiS items will not drop in easy areas or from weak monsters. PoE doesn't do this for currency, and I think it's a ridiculous decision tbh. you won't drop the crazy +1.5HP skull socketable from a level 20 trash mob in TL2, but you can drop an Exalted Orb/Mirror/Eternal from Normal Hillock in PoE. " I like this, way easier to implement. The Wealth Mod could come with a huge encounter and heavy hitting mods. |

" haha I loved that area. the demon bull boss was actually a more interesting fight than the act boss. and I said nothing about the Bone Dragon :) Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

Titan Quest is my absolutely favorite ARPG of all time for many reasons, and I'm excited for Grim Dawn. Playing the alpha has already been a lot of fun.

" I actually really liked that. You knew where you could get certain items, it made it more exciting for me as I was certain I had a chance of getting what I wanted/needed. Ascension tied to Lab is the worst thing GGG has done...apart from GGG's philosophy on Trading. Oh and Gambling Loot boxes. And selling out to tencent.
I used to love GGG. I supported to ensure GGG remained independent, now I just wish I could get my money back. -_- |
