Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft players... this game isn't meant for you.

EDIT2: On reflection, if I were cruising for a new game and I saw this thread, I'd wonder what sort of wanker elitist arseholes I'd have to be dealing with if I decided to play. Pretty poor form, really.

This accurately describes too much of GD.

Too much of the forums, generally, but yeah, most of the shit is usually in GD. I can imagine not many would want to try this game if they a) didn't already have friends playing, or b) weren't already wanker elitist asshats.
Another quality thread by solwitch.
Edit: I couldn't possibly word this right without sounding like an asshole.
Clearly, you cannot like two different genres of games at the same time. It's, like, just impossible, bros.

Also, much like PoE, GW1 allowed you swap your skills in and out at will, but for when you were in the middle of action.

Eh... PoE is crazy rigid in this regard. Especially when compared to GW1. My Monk could switch from DPS to HealsBot in seconds by simply dragging and dropping a few different skills onto my bar. Didn't even have to change my gear.

PoE is nowhere near that flexible. Skills that have to be leveled, a passive tree that costs a small fortune to significantly respec, gear that not only compliments your skill choices, but has colored sockets that can only be used for a very narrow skill choice combination... All these things conspire to make changing a character's focus pretty much an impossibility in PoE.

Honestly, if the flexibility of GW1 was a defining characteristic of why you liked the game, you would probably hate PoE. Not that I'm saying GW1 players wouldn't like PoE - I'm just saying this particular aspect is vastly different in the two games.

Edit:
Maybe you're talking about GW1 before they made respecs so easy. IIRC, that change came way way early in the game's cycle and so I would assume that a majority of players wouldn't associate that aspect with the game - or wouldn't remember it at all.

I agree with this being a good this(The rigid level style) because it gives the game a replay value that would be lost if you could simply switch traits as desired. This also makes a specialized person more valuable depending on the task at hand. So I'm not upset by having to create two of one class to experiment with different branches of play style.

Finally, PoE steals (there's no better word for it) GW1's instancing system. A Guild Wars player would immediately grasp the idea of public towns (with large instances) and private, party-based dungeons/zones.

Of course, PoE steals the instance system created in GW, who created a revolutionary system for games. <ironic mode off>

There was life before GW man, Diablo 2 FTW (5 years before), or Diablo (10 years before Gw) or....

Spectacularly missed my point. Well done.

PS I'm 35. Please don't presume to lecture me about games before...anything, really.

Sorry I think i dont missed anything. Steal is not the right word in this conetxt. If PoE "steal" from some game the instance system, is from Diablo (as worthy succesor of it) an not from GW, simple as this.

Is posible i dont understood you correctly, is an option too, English is not my native language.
I kinda wish they went with D2's game creation method myself.

Then again I never played GW1.
