in-game voice chat system??
if you have a dedicated server solely for voice chat, i think it would help eliminate the 'unneeded overhead' problem.
It would have to be party only though, maybe even instance only. For some of the really hard leagues, it could help people work togeather and coordinate attacks. Infact for the hardcore leagues i think having voicechat would be very important. When youve been doing something long enough, you tend to get abit lazy. Having someone tell you to watch out/backoff could be the difference between life and death. When playing diablo2 hardcore, i would only play at a lan because we can communicate more efficently as a group. | |
I use voice chat every day, and I honestly couldn't play a game without it now... however I have my own private server so I never have a problem.
I think that the players could host one for a while until POE gains enough traction to consider it. If you have account problems please Email Support

Its not really needed is it and as it can be covered by 3rd party i imagine they may skip this
I dont know how easy or hard it is to make a voice system in game, but i know it would cost man hours and resources, both of which would probably be better spent else where at this stage |

More than likely there is an API for voice chat systems out there, however that costs $ to license and costs big bandwidth which again costs $. I don't think they would invest in it for quite a while, even if it is trivial to add.
