Updated 3/19/2014 - Auto-Stack Option (a glowing effect applied to stackable items when stacked)
|
I'd expect that in this case, the 'unplaceable' shard would remain at the cursor? Will check it out later...
Other similar thing that's annoying me sometimes is with de-stacking: why did using currencies for npc trades does not emptying one by one, but take the orbs from the next stack each time? Same seems to happen with the new ability to multiple-apply currencies on items (like rolling colours with chromatics) after the initial stack is emptied. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

" I love how excessively defensive you are about your suggestion. All he said was that he thinks it makes sense currently; nothing more. He's not saying it would break PoE or whatever you made of it. Relax :> ---------- " This is why I've come to appreciate the function (or lack thereof, depending on who you ask :P ). I've reserved the top two slots in my stash for Alt shards. When one slot is filled, it will infallibly switch to the other slot. The first slot is now an Alt that I'll dump with the rest. This way, my Alt shards are still always in the same place, and I get clear feedback on additional Alts being formed. Similarly, I like seeing Alch shards pop up in the empty slot. Move the Alch shards over the new Alch, automatically picking it up, dump it with the rest. Quick and easy. I don't play enough to have either of these things be an issue, and I like the feedback it provides. That said, wouldn't care too much if it was changed either. |

I think the existing system would work fine from a psychological perspective if items were moved around automatically in a Left to Right, Top to bottom order instead of Top to bottom, Left to Right order.
I like to stack stuff in horizontal rows rather then vertical rows and the way it handles stuff now is both tedious and to me, feels unintuitive :/ The current system favours stacking in vertical rows. " in this case one shard would stay in you inventory and the other would go to the stack which would change in an alteration orb |

" Ah, I hadn't considered this. An excellent counterpoint. Perhaps you're right after all... something to ponder, definitely. Code warrior

I know this is a QoL issue and not a real bug or anything but sometimes i find it irritating.
I've start a character with "high" MF stats (for reference 77/209 Q/R nothing special here) and when you start getting even a little of Rarity you get allot of rare. I like to sell every rare i find just for the currency and therefore receive allot of alt shard. After few minutes i stop ordering as most currency that usually drop are now in my inventory so i stop sorting. I once had 4 stack of alteration in my inventory because i didn't put some order in it(Probably moved a few by reflex to put get an armor or something therefore removing weird auto-stacking of Ex-Shard stack). I really like to keep stack of alteration Orb/stack and Transmutation orb/stack in my inventory and just place them in my stash when full. Having to sort my inventory every 15 minutes is ... " You could make a little golden/silver halo animation around a stack that gets updated. This seems like the natural way to go about it, i think it's what D3 does. SSF Keepers: 97

" Just voting for auto-stacking. It's annoying as crap having random orbs/shards everywhere after depositing all my shards. I also hate how it puts it in order, I leave the first 4 spots open so when I drop shards, they fill those spots so there's less manual moving. When I merge shards, the new orb pops in where I want my shards, so I then have to move the orb, than re-order the shard. The same is true anywhere you put your shards. It would be ideal if where you place your shards, when you create an orb, the orb goes somewhere, and the spot your shards were stays "saved" and puts shards back in that spot every time. I.E: I want to pick where shards go, and they go there every time. I want to pick where created orbs go, and they go there every time. + (being able to pick auto-stacking would be nice too, but the main thing is not having to constantly move around shards/orbs to get them to stay in 1 spot) Last edited by Litheum#7285 on Aug 20, 2013, 8:46:56 PM

"Personally, I agree with this position - that feedback that an actual new orb has been created is important, both because I like to be aware of what my items are doing, and because it provides a sense of progress - you actually know when you've accumulated enough shards for an orb, rather than just constantly throwing them in and then looking later and seeing you have some orbs - each time I see the knew orb, it's feedback that my accumulation of shards has reached an important threshold, and I've accomplished something. | |
" Is it too much to ask for to make it an option so we can choose what kind of dopamine rush we prefer - a new stack of items, or a bigger number in the stack? |
