I've seen so many options for melee build. Some says lv1, lv7 and even lv17(+lv17 molten shell +lv17 immortal call +lv17 Increased Duration).

It's not just linking gems to Cwdt, another better option is Manually cast some skills (like Enduring Cry).

i prefer going the other way around to get RT because of unwavering (for map piety dominus etc) because afaik blind doesnt work against spells which is your major threat

also +1 end charge, more dps through duality + 2 x 12%/6%life nodes, 2% extra leech

i lose out on +2 max res and 12% res all but the life outcome is basically the same, plus i will get more life near ranger start 8/8/12 nodes

Your build is fine, and will work just great. However.. its not optimal for someone who has a BoR. By getting Unwavering Stance, you have 100% negated the 75% chance to dodge attacks gained by the Blind provided by BoR. http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Unwavering_Stance I'd also like to point out that according to the wiki, you cannot be stunned while you are in the middle of a Cyclone. http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Cyclone

I have roughly 3.5k health with 4k armor(31%), and cannot remember the last time I was stunned by any source. By not going through the Marauder tree, you have passed up quite a bit of survivability. Not that big an issue because this build is already pretty tanky. However, if you are being stunned, then I suggest increasing your health and mitigation since stun is based on the % of life lost after mitigation.

If you are not using Blood Rage, or Life on Hit gem, then the 2% life on physical is a decent way to keep your health up without getting it from gear. I see you have avoided quite a bit of life regen, which nearly negates the life degen from Blood Rage with 0 Chaos Resist.

As far as Concentrated Effect gem, I do suggest this. There are three +30 int nodes along the road that are easy to pick up to help level this gem with no problem. This gem is a HUGE damage increase for those who can tolerate the smaller AoE it comes with.


Yes ive since dropped unwavering stance, my life is 5.1k at level 77 and my cyclone dps is 5.7k tooltip which, when playing solo clears really well, i was able todo a jungle valley boss room at level 74 in 20 seconds without dying (heart was beating fast though!)

I am going to spec into swords for now so i have 44% life from the tree to still get and is very efficient becuase the 6% life 12% phys sword nodes are right next to me already

once i get a soultaker ill respec into axes which will boost my dps more then swords at a slight life cost
I'm still deciding on what I'm going to do in the wake of the change to Cast when Damage Taken.

On one hand I enjoyed the automation of the skills I linked to it and on the other I hated it because it left me having to push one button.

Perhaps if Enduring Cry, Molten Shell and various curses were instant cast it would keep melee fluid while requiring other actions besides attacking.

One change I have made is linking Endurance Charge on Melee Stun to Leap Slam, it's a nice way to maintain endurance charges when transitioning from one pack of mobs to another.

I kind of want to ditch Cast when Damage Taken and manually cast everything, it will certainly make life easier by not having to switch out Vulnerability for Enfeeble prior to engaging a boss.

One thing is for sure, I won't be using Molten Shell any more, having to cast it is an inconvenience.

This is more of less what i am thinking of doing. Have not thought of Increased duration but this is a very good shout.

lets say we have 4k health. At 2k damage CoDT will cast Immortal Call (i aim to get extra node of Endurance charge or two). With 4 nodes you get like 2.5 sec to be safe from Physical Damage ONLY. But also CoDT will cast Molten Shell that will prevent Elemental/Chaos damage.

This should work very well in physical reflect maps where your extra charges of Endurance Charges will give you up to 1.2 second extra which then can be extended even more with support gem.

If you level support gem to give you 80% increased duration then from 6 ECs you will get over 6 seconds immunity to physical damage (6 charges = 3.5 sec * 1.8) Plenty of time to leech life back. And only worry will be elemental/chaos damage. Within those 5 seconds you will be able to self cast Enduring Cry again to gain new stacks of Endurance Charges and on and on .... If you have another CoDT gem then you could link low level Endurance Call gem, Totem and you should always have 6 ECs after Immortal Call has expired.

I'm stuck in Act 1 Merciless where monsters kill me before I can even heal up. This is my gear :

I lost all my portal scrolls and I can't really solo anything anymore. Is there something I have to upgrade first, or do I need to level up ? I'm lvl 50 and I could barely kill the necromancer in Fetid Pool...

Can someone explain to me how cyclone with 4-5k dmg can be better that 18k dual strike with splash?


And new CWDT.
How about with Enfeeble, Decoy totem and something else ?

Forget about the fetid pool. Side maps in later difficulties are much harder and you're level is so low. I don't even get how you managed to kill Dominus looking at your equip.

If you don't want to farm act3 cruel, try to rush till Ledge and start to farm there till 57~, if you're lucky enough you may drop something useful.
