PC Lag

Make sure to check the adapter box in the video settings. Make sure you see your HD 5450 listed.

Intel I7/5/3 processors can have Intel HD Graphics chipsets built into the processor. Perhaps Path of Exile is defaulting to use the Intel HD Graphics and not the HD 5450.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the HD3000 chip in the 2500k is more than a match for a 5450. That might be worth trying.
I have brand new thinkpad with i7 ivy bridge, 8gb of ram and GT 630, yet this game is plain unplayable with 1600x900 resolution and _everything_ turned to minimum.

I know my graphic card is junk, but I was expecting PoE to run flawlessly on it. And that is the reason I got this laptop, to play at work.

ATM. im playing with 1366x768 resolution and its playable but not really that nice of an vision.

So please, help us with poor graphic cards and make some hack before open beta to run it better for us unlucky ones.

I've tried running the game with HD4000 that comes with the fastest ivy bridge but it's just worse, so don't tell me to try that.

I know that the game is really nice looking, but I think for a game like this there should be more options to tweak the effects. Like turn down maximun particles, etc. I think there is just some very poor coding in the effects of this game. You could make them look just as nice with much less of an performance hit.

I think the main problem is that people see this game 99.9% of the time from the same perspective, but the engine is made for much more. If the camera was locked in one angle and the engine made only that in mind, this game could run just like Torchlight or a modern Diablo II.

First I thought it was weird that you could change the perspective, but there was ZERO use for that, and I knew nobody would use this feature, so why even make it so?

I would understand the decision if there was some kind of cut-scenes before boss fights or similiar, but now it's just a show-off of the engine for nothing but a hard cost on performance.

I promise I will instantly upgrade myself to gold account if you add some nasty hack to improve the performance of effects even a little bit.

ps. don't get me wrong, I REALLY love this game and from the first week I played I knew I will be playing this game for years to come. That's why I got the new laptop afterall. So even if you don't make the game any less demanding on the graphics card, I will devote all my gaming time to this game only. :)

I'm curious, OP, did today's patch help at all? I'm sure that things are running a lot smoother for me after it was released. Areas like the ship graveyard are definitely better, and times where I'd usually get a short "freeze" (eg: when fairgraves crew appeared around him) seem to have completely disappeared.

I'd changed to medium textures when that change was introduced last week but that didn't seem to make a difference (which isn't surprising, as I'm on a 64bit OS) but there's definitely improvements today.

I guess this is the part where a dev jumps in and says "no. we didn't change anything that would affect performance". :P

Anyone else noticing improvements?
So i have the same problems. The Game is unplayable for me cause of the horrible PC Lags.
Every few seconds i have a one second freeze/lag also if iam in the main menu!

My System spec:
AMD Phenom X4 955 4x 3,2GHz
Gigabyte Mainboard GA-MA790XT-UD4P
16 GB DDR3 1333 RAM
Nvidia GTX 670
System HDD = 120GB SSD
Game HDD = 1TB SATA
550W Power supply
24" Full HD Samsung TFT

As i said i have horrible freeze/lags if iam in main menu! I changed a few graphic settings but with my system i normaly can play such a game like PoE with high graphic settings. :(

I updated the graphic card drivers and have to test it later hopefull it works than...

your cpu and video card are bottle-necking you need to upgrade your cpu to keep up with your video card or you can try down clocking your card for a temp fix might work. good luck!

Yeah thats true.

I plan to buy a new PC or better new components.

i7 3770k
Asus Z77 Sabertooth Mainboard
Corsair Hydro H80 CPU cooler
Samsung SSD 240GB

and with my existing components:

Nvidia GTX 670
16 GB DDR3 RAM
120GB SSD
1 TB HDD

That should be a good high end computer for me to play the actual games and make stuffs like 3D Design, video programming, etc.

Ok PC Lags are gone cause of updated nvidia graphic driver!
