Remote Mine with spectre? Can someone explain?

I read somewhere I should be using remote mine with my spectres? So I had a 15% one so plugged it in instead of my minion damage gem (I only have a 5L chest). I run raise spectre, LMP, item quantity, item rarity, and minion damage normally. I'm trying remote mine instead of minion damage, but I cannot figure it out.

It seems the only way to work is to cast my raise spectre which seems to place mines (up to 5). However, sometimes, it seems to replace my spectre with whatever is dead on the ground, which is not useful since I run with either Flame Sentinels or Tentacle Miscreations as my spectres.

Can someone explain how they use this?

Instead of casting it with normal targeting, you cast it with the mine which you drop on the corpse of what you want. People tend to do this because remote mine has a %more damage which acts as a multiplier to everything else your spectres have. Once you get the spectres its like normal cast though where you don't use the skill anymore.

Saw the corpse u wish to raise, select all other corpses in the area and raise them as zombie, then when no other nearby corpses around the spectra corpse, drop the mine via raise spectra and detonate it.

Is troublesome but totally worth it,

Once done, swap back the mine gem with item rarity to take advantage of it. I believe the mine dmg multiplier is still there.

the mine dmg should be there, but swapping inn a rarity gem wont' do anything. Unless i'm way off.

would swapping in minion damage work after you summoned your spectres? In replace of remote mine?

it takes a snapshot of the gems as they are. YOu can't add anyting post-summon and have that affect your minion.

The more damage multiplier is worth way more than minion damage though (unless your using one of the degen spectres, then both are pretty useless)

The minion damage gem also works with all damage types as far as I can tell, but is additive. If you are not running a bunch of +minion damage then the minion damage gem should be a bigger boost to damage. If you are running a bunch of + minion damage then the multiplier of remote mine will trump. Some of you math people should work out the break points :D
