Battle Mage, or just a melee oriented caster class. I loved it in Diablo 2, how I could make a melee sorceress and not fall behind. Enchant + Warmth + Mana Shield = 25k melee fire damage and enough mana regen ( coupled with the mana shield and bonuses from gear ) to tank the majority of anything.

Just thinking about the melee customization I'll be able to do in this game with the templar/witch gets me a little wet... And I'm a guy.

in WoW it was undead warlock, in runescape when i played, it was a paladin type character, and in other games its the priest who mainly heals, so primarily magic type classes

Love me some Dual-Axe wielding orcs/undead. Had that setup in several mmos I played.

Necromancer, archer, elves, dark elves.

I usually try to play a stealthy character when I play RPG's. So assassin or something equal. It's usually such a great advantage when trying to explore.. I found that out after playing a clumsy WoW paladin for 6 months..

Depends on the game. But I like to play classes, that are into close combat, like the paladin in Diablo 2, for example. Wizards are fascinating, but I find it more appealing to attack the monsters with a sword than with magic.
