Is molten shell a good buff to use?

Is this a good buff to use for a mara, and what support gems should I use. I could put it in a 4 link armor piece, so I could use 3 support gems with it. If molten shell is no good, what other buffs should a mara be using?

Increased Duration if you want it for the armour buff. Its a great skill to pick up if you can afford the sockets for it.

I use it before jumping to a pack of enemies. 1k armour bonus is huge and scales with bonuses from passive tree. I linked with Life leech, Item quantity and Item rarity. Not using Increased duration because mobs eat shield long before even the standard duration ends.

Great survivability bonus vs bosses too.

Quality on MS sux hard, unfortunately.

Run as many auras as possible.
Lvl 1 AA is your friend (not sure if you can sustain it with Soul Taker). Q20 if you have enough currency.
Blood Rage is amazing once you can sustain it.

That sounds like a good combo, does it do pretty good damage when the gems are at higher levels?

I was using it on a 57 Witch who was built for cold damage and it was pretty awesome. I wanted it just for the armor boost but it turns out with concentrated area effect and just the first 2 spell damage boosts and the 20% elemental boost it became a pretty good damage boost too. It wasn't a boss killer or anything, but melee whites and blues didn't stand a chance against it. The added defense was nothing to sneeze at either, only being boosted by the Mind And Matter nodes in the Templar area. So in summation, even as an afterthought on my character it was pretty damn good.

No, but I have sharted, and its not a pleasant feeling.

#1 Molten shell is very imortant for ARMOR buff! ( + granit ++++ )
