Then 6 res is a pretty good deal - look at the marauders position the the skill tree, he can take notes with 7+ fire res or cold or lightning. So I would say that the deal with kraitlyn is great.

Not really that great in my opinion, in the end you'll have pretty damn good resitances just due to equipment, and since they cap at 75 anyways you may end up not needing the bonus at all.

The soft resist cap is 105% becasue Elemental Weakness takes off 30%. Also I believe Kratyn's reward is 8%, not 6%, so it's a pretty good reward for a skill point.

If you're stacking life, Oak is worth considering too. The +45 life is added to your base and gets multiplied by all your %life passives.
Yeah it's +8%, which I usually take. Reason being I would grab that in the skill tree if I came across it.
A lot of people take the health, at least i've read that on the forums, i personally prefare the skill point, simply because i LOVE putting skill points in the tree :P

I guess every quest reward can be usefull, depending on what your character needs/builds on.

was oak the one with the big hammer doing those damn leaps? because he was an utter bastard. took me like 6 tries to finally beat him and had to wait 15 min after each try ,out of the zone ,so he reset. eventually beat him by running away from him, around the tent ,like a little girl for most the fight

You can start a new instance of the zone without waiting:
when you select the where you want to teleport from the waypoint in the town, hold 'ctrl' and click on the destination (in this case the area where Oak is). Another menu will open and you can click 'New' - so it will instantly spawn a new instance for you.

Isn't it 6+ all res Kraitlyn gives? That's a pretty good one.

+6 res helping Kraityn
+ 45 health helping Oak (IMO by far the worst of the 3 fights)
+ 45 mana helping Alira (easiest fight)

+1 skill point killing all

Then 6 res is a pretty good deal - look at the marauders position the the skill tree, he can take notes with 7+ fire res or cold or lightning. So I would say that the deal with kraitlyn is great.

Yeah it can be, it just depends. My Mara is sitting at 73%+ resistance for all elements and 45 health at this point doesn't amount to much (although in Normal it was substantial) so I feel compelled to take the talent point every time now.

But soloing Oak sucked. Was like a 5 min fight because of his endurance charges and immortal call.
The 45 health scales with your passive. So its really 100+

In another thread, with math and theoricrafting, the 45health is best for Mara since you depend so much on hp (assuming you have bloodmagic)

Try pressing ctrl while entering a new instance ;) (you can create a new one)

Actually, you're assuming that the water elementals use a lower level Elemental Weakness than they really do. I tested it briefly a while back -- their EW rips 49% from all your resistances. In Act 2. In normal.

It's a level 10 EW I believe.

Thus the soft cap is much higher.

But since you don't face them that often, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I do sometimes help Kraityn for the 8% resist all though.

I'm a resistance junkie, having come to believe that if armour is the main defence against physical, then resistances (and nothing else) are the main defence against everything else (barring chaos, of course), and that right now, elemental damage from mobs almost outweighs physical. To me, Kraityn's bonus is the equivalent of three nodes, whether we're talking the three in the middle or those over near Diamond Skin.

Still, if your build calls for that extra point, go for it. Usually I'll build on the website and decide if I REALLY need those 3-4 points or not.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
A single skill may not seem all that great

but what you have to consider is that each skill point is a step along the path to something great.
I always go for the +HP from Oak since I'll just use that passive for a health node anyway.
R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

No wonder those stupid elementals hurt so much.

I spent some time looking over the skill tree and came to the same conclusion you did. 8% elemental resist would be a really nice skill tree node that I'd be inclined to grab so I help Kraityn at least twice.
