Why is thorns in the game?

I can't see how it even could be remotely viable. Is it just there to further reduce the chance of finding/crafting a useful item? 20 phys reflect is nothing in endgame, no matter how much you boost it.

Pretty much. The more useless stats the harder to get the perfect item.
Thorns are OP... go check the unique bramblejack, get tempest shield skill and punishment curse... problem solved!

It's to troll people into wanting to jump off bridges.



To make matters even worse, that happened before eternal orbs existed, and thorns was the final exalt, so nowadays it could be avoided :|

Edit: And in case you're interested, I pumped over 1.5k fuses into it with no 6l. I've given up on linking it at this stage.

hmm not sure if serious....

bramble reflects 30% to deal 30% you have take hits in the first place

bramble does nothing when you block ....cause you dont take any dmg hmmm if you dont take any dmg punishment does nothing

Why is thorns in the game?


To dillute the affix pool and make good items harder to get. The logic beihind is that you'll be oh so happy when you dont get thorns.

So thorns make you happy when you dont get them and richer in alteration shards when you get them, its the perfect affix really.. :P

Light radius at least provides some quality of life, reflect confers nothing to the gameplay.
Never understood why they do not boost the value on thorns greatly, it would still be a useless stat for most builds but would open up options that are missing in POE.

I would love it if thorns damage reflected spells/projectiles and scaled off from physical/elemental damage from the passive tree, Along with a healthy increase to the base value found on items. and/or a new skill gem (Aura) that boost thorns damage by x% and allows it to reflect spells and projectiles.
