Portal disappeared, lost all good items and quest item!

Whether the portal closed due to a bug or timing out, I think you would be wise, OP, to prioritize your looting for precisely this reason.

Always grab the important items first. If you want to grab the smaller stuff, portal to town and put stuff in your stash/vendor it, then return for the whites and blues.

I know it doesn't help with this situation, but it would probably be a decent idea to consider in the future.

not sure if its bug or some kind of action happening on server side that closes all non occupied instances every once in a while but this happens quite regurarely. have seen portals disappearing after few seconds after coming to town from them

Was it a map? Where you in a party? Someone probably just crushed the portals. In a map only 6 tp's can be taken until the map becomes unavailable. So if you are in a 6 person party and go into a map you can not leave an reenter.

Everyone in the group can open their own portals and it will not interfere with yours. So your answer is false information.

He said "in a map". Which is correct information. In a map, there can only be one port of entry at any given point in time. This really has nothing to do with the OP's problem though, since he stated he was in town when it happened.

OP says it took 2 minutes, but I'm guessing he was there much longer and the instance expired.

When i opened a portal to sell the white items the portal in town suddenly disappeared and i have lost all the good stuff, which i wanted to keep plus the quest item.
Is there a chance to respawn or any ideas?
This is ab big problem because this is my hobby in games like this one (Diablo, Diablo 2, etc.).
It would be fine, when you could fix this bug. And when its not a bug, its a mess you must fix! Its not fun!

but seriously teleports and instances disappear on pretty much daily bases starting from few seconds from coming out of them. Atleast I thought I saw some posts about it so I think it is a commonly known bug/or just ggg's way to save server capacity by erasing all non-occupied instances once in a day or so(not so sure how often this occurs)

Something happening "on a daily basis" and "I thought I saw some posts about it" are 2 VERY different things...

If it happened anywhere NEAR as often as you're implying, believe me, you'd be seeing a lot more posts about it(probably as many if not more than the number whining about desynch or the latest xp loss changes) and not just "I think I saw someone mention it once".

Also, I don't remember ever seeing a portal disappear in an unreasonably short time like that and obviously, I've played at least a decent amount. If it does happen at all, it's probably due to there being a huge number of instances of that zone at once and the servers being overloaded, therefore they reduce the timer, but that is probably very rare.

And lastly, as others have already said, just in case it does happen, you should always grab the most valuable loot first and store that away before worrying about grabbing any vendor trash and selling that. Even if there isn't any bug/overloaded servers like you described, you never know when you might lose power or get an important phone call or need to leave or have any of 100 other different things come up...only makes sense to take care of the more valuable stuff first.

Bug or not. A limitation of 8 min. or whatever is unnecessary. It's ridiculous and frustrating.
And besides the inventory is also "limited". It's to small. You could add some more rows or something.
