Make Facebreaker 60+ for lvl requirement. That should make it that you cannot one-shot your way through normal cruel, and 2/3 of merciless. I always felt that Facebreaker was an end-game item, and not just a lvling item.

Edit: Other than that, I think Facebreaker should stay as it is, stat-wise. Why mess up melee builds, when you have a huge amount of range builds that are literally shattering the game to bits.

As a lvl 80 character that already one shotted by way through normal, cruel and some of merciless, I support this idea.

Actually levels 50 to Bringer of Rain was quite tough even with facebreakers, maybe make it lvl 40.

I just need to replace the iron ring and I will be capped for resists but severely lacking chaos resist. Next goal is to get upgrades that include physical damage, life and resists including chaos resist.

I actually want to get the Death's Oath chest and then get rid of the amulet so I can have more flat physical damage and resists. I only use the amulet so I don't have to use a life leech gem with infernal blow. If I can get a 6L I would use the Added Fire Damage gem.

Right now I have 17k DPS infernal blow with melee splash and 25k DPS single target with added fire damage instead of melee splash. Also have 20k armor with no granite and, once I upgrade the iron ring, fully capped resists.

Desync and elemental reflect are the biggest problems with this build. I've never used the /oos command so much as with this build.

Get yourself a bringer of rain if you can swing that. Your survivability goes through the roof, partly because Abyssus puts it in the basement to start with.

I initially was going for BoR but decided to go with Abyssus when I saw one for sale. My survivability is pretty good even with the added physical damage taken and less block chance. I haven't died in a long time and I generally just farm Lunaris or do maps 68-71 solo. I haven't been able to sustain a map pool above that unfortunately.

I would like to see how I would do with a BoR vs. after I get (if I ever get) Death's Oath. Obviously Abyssus + Death's Oath would be much higher DPS, but if BoR does increase survivability that much and the DPS loss isn't too significant it might be worth it. Now I just need to get those two items...
I was using blood dancers on my facebreaker for awhile, the life regen on it is insane with 7 charges, ended up switching it for other boots for 8 charges and vaals pact.

What is "game breaking"? I've got 2 characters to 50, 2 to 60 and 1 to 80. They are all casters or range, except I made an elemental cleave melee. I found a good roll Facebreaker the other day and decided to get a few other items to make a new character. I'm actually having fun. It's leveling at the same rate as my elemental cleave melee, and is about on par with my 3 witches, although he is 2x the work since I actually have to pay attention and do things and not let totems or pets take out the trash for me. It looks like the build can work up into the higher levels, which many melee builds can not do.

Game breaking that you can "ONE HIT," every single mob including elite's at lower level's reaching merciless in less than a few hours. You don't find having 2000 dps or higher at lower level's game breaking?

Facebreaker is game BUILDING not game breaking. The options for AOE are very limited, especially against fire resistant mobs. There is a limited range of gear that is effective for it, and the defense declines almost exponentially as you level because of your options. Try using a foxshade armor on another end game character for reference.

The jewelry that works best isn't the type most players keep for trading. In fact, the prized phys dmg mods for facebreakers seem to be junk mods (for most players that trade) that devalues them. When phys dmg stats on gear are the only real increase your facebreaker will get, finding gear with some decent resists or some life or mana becomes harder and harder.

As you get further into merciless, the facebreaker becomes more fragile, especially around groups of ranged mobs.

The supporting gear and passives leave the facebreaker mana poor which further limits options. Sure you can refill your mana with a single hit, but a couple misses and the mana ball is empty.

The facebreaker gives up criticals and striking range.

It is a fun viable build and the unique was specifically designed to enable a build.

There isn't a facebreaker jr. unique, so the one item has to work from character start to potential end game. Imagine for instance that the game only had one bow and that it had to suffice for all ranged builds.

There are a lot of trade offs that have to be done, which is as it should be. If you have the right gear, the facebreaker has a lot of early power. If all you have are some self crafted iron rings then its not so easy at all. The reason the facebreaker build seems so powerful is beacuse it is tightly defined with more narrow and obvious choices. Anyone creating a character based on an established build will find that things go well so long as you stay on the proven path.

In short: it isn't OP it is just another fun viable build. It ia part of what makes POE great in my opinion.

My turn.

In all honesty, I do hope Facebreaker gets a retuning to back where it was prior to the physical damage formula revamp. This additional damage is utterly ridiculous since that patch (DPS has doubled). However, such changes would not effect people at a high level of play at all, since the DPS will clear everything just as quickly, but will also make physical reflect not even a threat.
Just food for though, a Facebreaker nerf will only hurt the middle of the pack, the endgamers will only be stronger against physical reflect.

No, for two reasons:
1. The amount of time anyone spends at lower levels (as opposed to higher levels) is essentially negligible, and most of the loot that drops beyond orbs is useless anyways. Seriously, if we balanced for low levels, twink uniques wouldn't be a thing. Personally, I welcome anything that helps people get through cruel, because most builds don't actually come into their own until much later.
2. That's... about all you get. You get to upgrade your jewelry a few times. If you're really lucky you can get your hands on an Abyssus or Bringer of the Rain and get a bit more, but most facebreaker builds pretty much have a solid cap at 8-9k DPS.

BTW, if we're showing off...
