Mouse click movement is frustrating

Chris interview is about WASD but not this topic?

whatever ...
Maybe we're not reading the same original post? Poisoniv is clearly asking why there is not a joystick- or keyboard-based movement option. He's not asking why there isn't a "hold to force move" button, which is what the discussion moved towards.

The problem is not the left-click mouse to move, but rather the intention of it.

The real problem players are complaining is that the auto-changing from Move to Attack is causing un-intended swapping to the Attack mode "when they just want to Move."

An Easy fix is to add a key. The current left-mouse can still be retain as it is. The purpose of the new key is to by-pass the Attack mode, or simply "turn-off" the attack mode when pressed. Thus "create a movement" key.

Bear in mind that it makes a big difference when one is trying to avoid being surrounded by the mobs.
However, if the players is already been surrounded, then the only way to get out is either fight your way out or using a specific skill.

ADD a new button for the players sake. Please we need it.

I agree with this, although I'd rarely use it. A move key is a basic ARPG feature and there's no reason why PoE shouldn't have one.

As for WASD.... Thanks for the laugh, OP. :D

Reach for the Sun...
A source of movement input that has nothing to do with mouse pointer position. I am suggesting this as an added feature.

...touch the Moon.
Move towards the mouse pointer regardless of what it is hovering over. After reading the responses and listening to the audio interview this modification of my original suggestion would better fit with the game design. It is also potentially simpler to code.*

*Off topic but can never be said enough. I have never worked on the PoE code. I would never be so arrogant as to say I know something is easy or simple to implement in the PoE code. It is one thing to write a stand-alone subroutine. It is significantly different to add that subroutine to an existing code base.
