Act II darkness - too much, too long

I feel like the darkness in Act II after you break the orb is overdone and continues for too long. The graphics are already on the dark side in enclosed areas. The purple overlay makes all the greens muddy and ugly and visibility is poor enough that I feel like I have to readjust my screen gamma/contrast in order to see. You don't see Pools and Streams, Dread Thicket, or Waterfall Cave in natural colors at all during normal quest progression.

You're stuck with the effect after clearing the ruins, so if you can't kill Vaal Overlord to progress all your grinding has to go on while squinting at a murky screen.

Any chance the temple could go dark purple after destroying the orb, but just the purple streamer things remain once you're through to Pools and Streams? It would look ominous but not so ugly.
The streamers are called SoulerCoasters.

:D

I actually think the world darkness event should be quite mellow upon reaching pools and streams, but intensify as you reach the ancient pyramid and start to ascend it. It would help build tension as well as convey to the player that they are going to be fighting an uber boss soon.

I'm in agreement with the other posters. The purple is too much and goes on for too long. It turns stale long before you get to the act 2 boss and makes the later part of act 2 less enjoyable for myself. That's with me not even full clearing or doing the side area.

Also, the sunbeams in certain areas like Pools and Streams still show through while the darkness is going on and I found that to be odd.

I on the other hand do love the darkness event, never liked the springy blissful forest with always perfect weather. I was affraid that all those dark graphic filters from chaos would dissapear and here they are, nice.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future.

The device is believed to have been dropped
I'd like to say that I like the effect and its duration. It makes pools and streams a more unique experience compared to the rest of the act, whereas before it was somewhat more of the same. I also really like the effect of dark mist closing in if you venture into the lower lying areas of waterfall cave, and the greenish tinge the shader gives to things fully in shadow at the edge of your vision. It all gives the feel, to me, that something is seriously wrong here, and it needs fixing.

But it does make the relief so much greater once the sun comes back ;-) :-D
I agree with the OP and mentioned that in some other post as well. Currently players cannot admire the areas behind Vaal Ruins in their natural colors.

I think we could find a compromise by keeping the aboveground areas bluish and underground areas, where sun is not shining, in their natural colors (except Vaal Ruins wnen the seal is broken).

Have you tried to tweak basic shadows so they look like those under this darkenss event? They are a lot better than the basic basic shadows.

I kinda like the effect the event gives, though. It makes me feel like I really should go and kill that boss to get rid off it and see the sun again.
