Flicker Strike and Unarmed

I recently decided to make an unarmed build utilizing the new unarmed gloves. I can't use most skills which was to be expected but I was really hoping I would be able to use Flicker Strike, but I can't. Right now to close the distance all I've got is Phase Run. Is there any chance Flicker Strike can be made to work unarmed like Frenzy can?

Bumpin... Seriously would like some input on this. I don't think it's unreasonable.
Have you tried Lightning Warp?

Im melee phys damage lightning warp wont do me much good... not to mention it just sucks in general. Flicker Strike already works with any melee weapon, why not unarmed?

I imagine it's because allowing "any weapon" to use it would also have to include bows and wands, which would have obvious issues.
I'm not asking for it to be useable with any weapon I'm asking for unarmed... which it technically a melee weapon.

I think Flicker Strike should operate with the same 'restrictions' as Elemental Hit.

Indeed, I feel this way about any attack that doesn't specify allowable weapon types.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Agreed, I currently use frenzy on right click and elemental hit on main attack (although I almost never use it) and I feel like if I had Flicker Strike it would be a complete and even more interesting build. But without it I'm just punching stuff pretty fast. Admittedly right now I'm punching stuff at 800 dps with a 2.0+ attack speed in mid lvl 20 gear but still with Flicker I would feel awesome.

Flicker Strike does specify allowable types. It states in the skill description it uses a melee weapon.

And that's why it has the restriction - flicker strike is inherently a melee skill, which doesn't make nearly as much sense to do from range, and using it with ranged weapons doesn't really fit the concept of the skill.

Unfortunately there's a limitation in how skills specify weapon restrictions meaning that if a skill has any restrictions at all, it can't work with unarmed. That's because restrictions are specified by listing the item types it's usable with, and unarmed isn't (and can't easily be made) a type of item.

I do hope to change this in future, and allow more skills to be used unarmed.

That's good to hear, hopefully you can get around to it eventually as I was quite excited to find that it was actually a viable build barring lack of reliable aoe. But if I had flicker I feel I could quickly burst down troublesome mobs and get out of danger without needing an aoe beyond molten shield.
