FFXIV
I'm in the ARR beta and they still have lots of work to do. Combat is lacklustre (i.e: a watered down version of the standard WoW skill-rotation) and as pneuma has said; itemization is bland. Nevertheless, it has an amazing setting.
Given some time, it might shine. Its on the right track at the moment. Last edited by Lyralei#5969 on Jul 1, 2013, 9:20:08 PM

It still has the stench of a newbie friendly playstation game, just doesn't seem to compare to recent MMOs.
The skill count seems low which results in very bland simplistic gameplay (I crave complexity). I also get the impression that the bulk of the zones are for the starting zones. They released a teaser video showing off magitech armor.... my decision to play it may very well end up being based on how well that is thought out. (who wouldn't want to storm narshe?) |

" Nice descriptions. I must add, that FF7 is on my list of my favorite RPG of all time - being tied with Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. Something that was brought into FF7 was that of adult topics. FF7 had a large amount of controversial topics such as cloning and mental disabilities that really led to a very mature, well thought out storyline. It's also probably one of the only games I've ever played where I've gotten emotional via a storyline. The twists in the plotline are still something to be desired and I've yet to find a story in a game as compelling as what it was. |

" I didn't state that it started there, I stated that in a video game that I've played, I've never seen a story as wonderfully crafted with such adult topics. Calm down sailor. |

" VIII competes with VII for my favourite FF. I'm always been partial to the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory. Too farfetched, but it would have been cool. |
