" Are you kidding ? An extra 7% block is very valuable. It increases your effective life/es pool by around 7% against spells. Let's say you have 5000 ES/Life, then its almost like having an extra 350 ES/Life against spells. That's useless ? In the passive tree, you'd need to spend 3 or 4 passives point to get an extra 7% chance to block against attacks. And I'd argue that for a range caster, block % against spells is about as useful or even more useful than block % against attacks. Have you looked at the other stats on the boots ? I'm saying the spell block adds to that making the boots extremely good ...apparently your just reading this as 20 Es boots with 7 spell block and then rolling around laughing at my stupidity.
There's a reason these boots are expensive ...they are extremely good as is ...with a block build they ARE best in slot. I have two characters 80 plus with close to the same build and one has rainbow strides and one doesn't I'm speaking from experience not from theory. IGN- Shaeyaena

I use these boots on my pure phys melee templar. I use them in combination with my Aurora shield, and decent block (54%). Currently my armor is ~7500, my ES is ~2600 my life is ~1900, my resists are 75/80/75 and about 30% chaos. The result is I have 54% block and 20% spellblock. Everytime I block, not only is that attack negated, I replenish ~300 ES. You may or may not believe me, but I have not died once since the recent patch and respec, I've been very comfortable, easily soloing everything with no difficulty at all. I don't group much, but the few maps I have run in groups have been easy too. So, yeah, I'd say these boots are a good item, it just depends on what you want your gear to do for you, and how you synergize it. |
