Hey there,

The reason that RMT is take so seriously is because GGG is very much against the 'Pay to Win' mentality that some games have. RMT is a way for people to get an unfair game advantage based on how much money they can spend.

This is really disheartening to players who legitimately work hard in game for their item and character wealth. Over all it's a strategy that dampens the competitive nature of the game and goes against this strong ethic that GGG stands for.

The problem here, Bex..

..while I accept that ethically GGG are against P2Win.
Creating a game that REQUIRES a single person invest several times more (several being an understatement) orbs per xtime - than drop by the game - per person per xtime. Given that one would expect every player to be progressing, in a progression game; just where did GGG think the orbs would come from, if not botting, hacking, exploiting and RMT?

Serious question, it simply doesn't add up, it isn't a viable, sustainable design, without the undesirable inputs that GGG are so against.

I thought about it a little, after reading your post, and I think you answered my question about why rmt was unwelcome.

there's a hc ladder, so i'll take ggg's word for it that they're trying to eliminate p2w, but more likely rmt just erodes their customer base.

if you look at wow and everquest as models -- those games had a very devoted following that spent countless hours playing the game, and that's clearly what ggg would want to be successful.
this game is their virtual storefront, and the more foot traffic they can lure in there every day the better off they are.

all these drop rates are not randomly generated -- I guarantee you some member of the team can tell me average play hours to generate various drops, and it's engineered in such a way to keep you on the path of acquisition for a very long time, while checking out their virtual zagnut bars and and PoP daily sale items.
the day I rmt a few gg uniques and uber 6L gear is the day they start losing me as a customer, because I'll most likely mow the lawn for another month before getting bored and moving on.

there was a thread in here where some guy mentioned farming the beach 800x to find exiles, and while that might sound mind numbingly boring, people will do that just to collect an achievement ---- the idea is to give us a reason to grind every day for years, and rmt is entirely counterproductive to that, as it shortcircuits the hamster wheel.
while I might buy all kinds of microtransactions over a year's period, I doubt the chinese farmer I hire to play 1000 hours for me will invest much into halo effects and mummy skins.

I'm not, however, trying to spin this negative like ggg is some kind of crack dealer --- it's totally smart business that makes plenty of sense, I just wasn't understanding it, earlier.

I translated! Gold farmers who get one character to level (grade) 25 can then create new characters at level 1 and trade currency on those.

I suspect this is something everyone already knows though.

traded a exalt for 110 fusings last night a guy invited and he was level 25 then he invited another person who was level 1 ( him on another account?) then the person that was level 1 came to my town instantly and traded with me. Pretty strange, also i find people spamming trade or in pub partys that have a insane amount of fusings scouring chances jewellers ect all low orbs and they have a ton of them i see them almost all the time spamming WTT in chat

"To GGG: Hello, recently orb farmers have been bypassing the level 25 trading restrictions. As long as there is a level 25 character, other characters can trade with them."
