thanks.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.
i played the game and hmm.. its not the thing i wanted
I received an email with a beta code from Nividia (just what I never wanted)... I took the time to download the game and there was an error, it a game in beta such things are to be expected. I took the steps that I usually do when I get errors like these, like check to see if the firewall was blocking it, and it still says that it was "unable to establish internet connection".

I then remembered a game where I had to have Internet Explorer open to get it to work the first time for whatever reason... That was I decided to type the error name and the game into Google, only to receive a forum page that was of no help (the only thing I had not done, restart the computer, did nothing).

Is my internet connection really down? This is not even a game that I wanted to play in the first place, it was just something I did on a whim. I surely hope that PoE's beta does not have issues like this, and if they do, that there is a way way to amend the issue.
strange to say you understand its beta and then complain about a bug lol

If POE does not have similar issues with patching and server connectivity id be happily surprised as it seems to happen with most games at some point
Character development feels really boring and the huge amount of randomly interchangeble heroes is just not my cup of coffee. It's like: "Ah i unlocked a bunch of heroes i can add to my 19 heroes i already have. Which one to play? Wait i just have to read the description of every hero i already own to decide. Plus i have to evaluate which items i own, and which char can use which item. May take a few hours but the game is repetetive anyways..."

You're eased into it. If you feel overwhelmed you probably have ADHD or some form of mental retardation.
There is no character development so far - abilities are fixed, no skillpoints, modifiers or whatever. Gear choice? - no choice really - just grind for better lvl mostly (ofc dex-char will prefer dex gear anyway) - quite straitforward - and watch the absolutely ridiculously stupid stat cap! I liked the game at start, but after 20h of playing totaly it becomes exponentially boring.

The only thing that requires player cunning - is the squad composition, but I bet there will be builds that reap any average squad = just a few heroes playable.

Thats a bit harsh, dicks like you continue the stigma attached to such things

in any case hes right and is agreed by alot of people on the forums there, quantity does not = quality and in this case its unfortunately true

anyone else needs a key heres 1

Since it was only a weekend beta key, I was about to uninstall the game when on a whim I decided to try it one more time... It worked, but I spent almost as much time trying to make the game work in the first place and then installing it than I was actually interested in playing it (i.e. a lousy return on investment).

I was not a science major, but I was always good at science (still following it in Scientific American and other magazines), but even before I began playing I was put off by the pseudo-science explanation of what went wrong... Lets just say that there are things now like bacteria and whatnot that can only remain alive in high concentrations of a certain chemical that make a out of control 'monster' scenario unlikely. I can only imagine this would be improved and augmented further by combining several different inhibitors. Also, how would RNA work with a piece of DNA that looked like a cluster of coal? Furthermore, why would you continue to improve something that went out of control in the first place? You can tell, at least ostensibly, that EA is against GMOs (genetically modified organisms).

Then by the end just of the tutorial I was rather bored of the game. The 'kill all' Darkspore concept in every scenario I played anyway was simply boring, there was a reason Diablo 2 only had one quest that applied that idea within a small area with a highly valued reward. The timer after every scenario I played was bothersome but manageable (for the amount of time I played), yet I could not see how it would be plausible with 100 Genetic Heroes. Well, at least without unequip all and best equip buttons like in Final Fantasy 3 (6)... More on that point, why have access to the inventory screen in a map, if you could only equip things on the ship between levels?

As it has been said before, the UI was just poorly done... Having a minimap was not a bad thing but I would have preferred a large map overlay like in Diablo 2 (and apparently PoE), maybe with different colors for each platform. Even a map that you could only see by hitting say tab would have been better, as you could see where you had been before. I could go on and on, but the thread title, "Darkspore.... Dark BORE?", seems apt to say the least...
