How do people get 3-4k health and 10k armor?

Yes, I'm completely new to this game and rly need help from experienced players.

I have solely stacked defenses in my skill tree and got life on almost every itemslot, yet my health is still 2500, and my armor is like 1k at lvl 70. Is it because of bad gear or something else?
And yes, I'm melee with these bad stats. ):

The gear:

Just state your +life and life% (it's +256, +154%) and link your gear.

You don't have life on your rings or amulets, low life on the boots, you need a belt with 40 base and you can get like 80 (or something close) on it as a mod, no HP on the helm. Some people may just get more HP nodes too, like the ones in the middle.

you're using very low level uniques for amulet/belt with no life on them

your boots, other than the perfect movespeed, are crappy

neither of your rings have life

not sure why you use rime gaze with a lightning damage build

build is pretty much cookie cutter, though you missed the 20% life below blood drinker.

and yes, your gear is bad for life. no life on rings, amu, belt, head. low life on shoes.

theres your potential life gains :)

as for the armor, almost every single peice of your gear is hybrid and in addition to that there is no +% armor stats on any of it

if you want 10k armor you need to ditch the crappy uniques, ES gear, Armor/Es and Armor/EV whenever possible

You have +# life on 3 pieces of gear only. Just +250 Life before multipliers...

I have +400 #life and feel like glass cannon.

Passives is okey for life, just +0.4% HP regen not worth it.

Also, try to find resistances on gear rather then on passive tree. Only nodes that are worth points spend is diamond skin and only if you pass near.

Also you don't have BM keystone or Mana nodes. How do you feed your skills? BM gem?



Strange you didn't take DPS nodes for 1h weapon. What are you searching at Ranger tree? Those 3 nodes of elem damage?

You have +10% res nodes in Phalanx Cluster.

5 Endurance charges will and flat 20% phys reduce and 20% elem resist and +1% HP regen.

So, you have only from tree and charges +52% all resist

Ok, I will start focusing on getting rid of my non-life items.

Also, how do you guys keep high resistances in merciless if you don't use passives? Considering the -60% penalty.

Or is it just a matter of better gear?

you need resists on your gear, yes. use purity if you have to, just make sure to be capped
