[0.11.2] Onslaught League - Double Strike Duelist - 5 Aura's - 15% Lifeleech (updated on 19-07-2013)

As I've played alot of maps already with this build I can tell you that 9K Armour (which I have) is on the low side. Mobs hit hard, especially when you are in the middle of a ton of them. And yes, my current tree has that % of block. But the next points will go into shieldblock as I find it really important and helpfull. I might take Unwavering Stance as hard hitting mobs keep stunning me which is dangerous because my attacks get interrupted. Dropping Leather and Steel is no option IMO, for as my armour would drop and I want it to go up.

Ur right that on Merciless Docks I could do without a shield but when you reach the maps you will need them.

The shield block nodes I want to get in the tree give another 20%. My shield has 24%. Tempest shield gives 4% = 48%. On top of that you will have the life difference, the ES difference and the resistance difference. Where as you were to use dual Claws you will have dps and block. I say my option is safer, easier and with dps at 5K I'm still raping the mobs at lvl 69 maps.

Also Im going with Ar/Ev gear as it just looks cooler. A duelist should look a bit like a night, not like a nightcrawler with a funny facemask ;) I agree that going with pure Ev gear would be much more wiser but it's also about fun :)

About the pointshifting you did, it looks fine, might work fine but thats not what this build is about. This is a double striker on purpose. When I made this build and was in early stages of the game I went down to get Diamond Flesh. I respecced and went through leather and steel and the other way around to Iron Reflexes to pick up the 8% movement speed later on. This way I saved one point in total.

In your build you take EB really early and that helps a lot with mana too
True :)

I rush to Iron Reflexes, the % Leech Claw nodes and then to Eldritch Battery. Along the way I pick up the lifenodes but if I feel safe enough (which I did) you can skip a few for the time being. All depends on having lots of life on your items.

Mind that a 2% mana leech stat on one of your items solves alot of your mana problems. I wouldn't be able to manage without it.

Ah, you're right. The Testudo was what I wasn't seeing. Odd that your armor is so low, I was able to hit 12k armor at level 60 on a similar HC character using only +40% evasion from passives with IR, Grace and Determination. The gear pool's not as large in Onslaught though, so I probably had better gear.

Do you find that you have sufficient HP to feel comfortable with this build, or do you wish you had more?
Yeah my gear is far from optimized. First things I need to upgrade are my chest (not enough life) and my helmet (same problem). Currently I am sitting on 3.4K life with 184% life. There's another 18% up for grabs but I've not felt the need to realy get it. When I would upgrade my gear I will reach around 3.8K. With the extra 18% I will go over the 4K which is enough I feel for the 72+ maps.

My armour/evasion is so low because i use lvl 59 items (reguired) and an even lower chestpiece. But I feel you should be between 15K/20K to feel safe.

When I encounter a rare mob with "allies do extra phys dmg" they all start to hit like blue Golems, more armour will make it so you wont notice the difference I feel.

Do you think this works as my first char? (first char after I come back to POE, I know a little about the game of course)
I think this build is excellent for people that are new to the game or been out of the game for some time.

The leveling goes easy as Melee is realy strong early game. With the new melee buffs it keeps it strong. Gems aren't rare in this build, you only need to find or buy the MultiStrike.

The 5L I bought cost me 6 Chaos and I Alched it once and Physical Claws...I Transmuted and Regal-ed my first once (till like level 50-60). Then browsed the forums and bought one. Rest is all self-found and easy to solo.

Also its a fun build to play, the attackspeed is soooo insane and once you get quality on your Melee Splash mobs around you will burst out in flames. Just sprint into a pack and shift click and mobs will incenerate :). If it does get tricky you pop a granite and whirl away with whirling blades.

If you need any help or advice whilst playing this build feel free to contact me ingame and I will do my best to help you.

I am new to the game and would like to make some starter friendly (meaning no huge gear requirement) build. This build seems interesting but I'd like to play shadow (because there is just something in his animations and voice that I like more than duelist).

Do you think it's possible to convert this build in to a shadow build and what does the tree look like?

(Sorry about bit offtopic but I think it's better to post this question on this topic rather than making a new for it on shadow forums.)
Ill have to look into that if its viable to play as a shadow. I to like the shadow the most but I also think the shadow has one of the worst trees of the game. Not much life there.

Also I would like to say that I ripped due to desync. Nothing wrong about the build, the game was just trolling me.

Im doing another build as we speak but I will surely remake this character as it has been the best and most fun build I've played thus far (been playing since CB).
