Racism in Streams

I myself get call racist by my wife some times, but dammit I am a equal opportunity hater. I hate on everyone and every thing no more or less the the last or next. Even myself, fat( Fluffys definition of big) white typical American nerd stereotype gamer.

People need to lighten up and take shit with a sense of humor. I understand there are some lines you do not cross, but a little humor is good for everyone.

What I HATE is when people who get offended by said racist jokes cry about it, then go and use those "raciest" words them self's towards each other or make similar jokes and everyone is all happy dory.

If you don't want me to call you something don't call yourself it.

Mate, IMO the most offensive thing about racism is assholes who are totally sensitive to anything even mildly "racist". I don't know what other countries are like, but here in the UK the government have gone fucking bonkers about racism. No longer allowed to call a "chalk board" a "black board" in schools and banning certain nursery rhymes etc... WHY CAN'T THE BOARD BE BLACK? Now THAT'S a little bit offensive don't you think!?

I'm halfcast myself (and I don't mind the term halfcast, anyone who thinks it's a derogatory term please go and fuck yourself), and personally, for me... The most offensive thing is when someone says a little bit of racist humor, then everyone shuts up and looks at ME out of the corner of their eyes thinking I give a shit and they've done something wrong. The amount of times I've had to tell new people I meet about this kind of shit (my friends obviously know me well enough).

Look, just stop being so hyper-sensitive towards racism please, there's nothing wrong with a bit of racist banter.

If more people would understand this, then maybe racism would become less of a problem in the first place.

Obviously you'll always have a select few Hitlers though (true racists), obviously that's wrong but that's another issue altogether.

Just lighten up.

This is exactly what I was talking about. I got black friends, arab friends, jew friends, and guess what, noone gives a flying fuck about humor like that let alone get all emo. Oh let me pretend I'm defending someone by acting ridiculous, why not?

That shit pisses me off. Luckily it's not all that spread out where I'm at. But its a fucking cancer.

Was talking to a friend of mine that lives in China atm, he just showed me some stuff that sound utterly offensive to us (not racist but child abuse implying ads), to which his Chinese friends said 'what, its nothing like that, it's just a kid sleeping?!' etc. There is something wrong in western society, we are just way too fucked up with our defenses and over-protection over-awareness that we've lost our senses. We have became exactly what we are trying to 'defend' ourselves from, not only oversensitive but we have started to think the way freaks think, seeing offense where there is none.

Something I have been pondering on ever since. Are we protecting our young against offenders, or are we creating more offenders in the process? Same thing here, are we not actually creating 'Hitlers' in our society with the retardness that we act towards anything? We 'see' hatred where there is none, doesn't that by itself create hatred?

You can't know what you have not seen or experienced. You can't think hatred if you have no reason or past that stimulates it. Did we just became what we hate? Breeding hate under the disguise of defending against it.

Just think about it for a second. Where did the innocence go?

P.S. sorry for the wall of text, just something that's been on my mind for a while

Awesome post.
This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Western society really does just LOOK for things that could be taken offensively, hell some people get paid to do it. These people though, keeping potential "offenses" off the media, television and the like, fair enough to a certain extent.

But it's starting to slip in to everyday culture, the normal person is now going "*gasp* that's racist!" at the most pettiest of things. Take us back to the skinhead era, holy shit you see what racism really is. Still goes on now I suppose to some extent.
Oh holy crimini, good thing the Pythons had their act way, way back then.

I disagree. I would say he folds back the layer of PC we have put over deep seated racism, and talks about it. Racism is drawing a conclusion about a person and making assumptions about them from outward appearances alone, especially from the color of the skin. It is a thing still, and its good to have someone be able to add humor to the subject while still expressing the problem. I think he attacks a lot of stereotypes and stupid shit in media today, not just racism.

Hey...is this thing on?
I've also noticed nearly every single stream has tons of casual racism. If it's not the streamer himself then it's someone on mumble with him. I think it's just that the lowbrow humor is a way to entertain a mass amount of people instead of just providing a stream that showcases interesting game play and demonstrating a real knowledge for the game. If I'm going to watch a stream, those are the things I look for, not some jokester with petty attempts at getting viewers through laughs.

Because it's not like he encouraged people to repeat racist jokes to their friends, until those jokes weren't funny anymore, so then they make their own racist jokes trying to imitate his style.

No wait. It's exactly like that.

His show was not a carefully constructed satire of racism that treats the audience ironically. It was racist jokes for stoners.

Racism only exists if you want it to exist. Don't get offended by anything.
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.
