You people care about an internet celebrity. I just had to show my disgust.

I couldn't give two shakes of a lamb's tail covered in shit about internet celebrities, by and large.

But when one brings in support and cash for my favourite game company? Oh yes, THAT I care about.

As should you, if you have any vested interest in this game at all.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
Just watched a bit. He is an intelligent player, which I like to see.

Never had heard of him before though.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.
Reading the last 2 pages of butt-hurt makes me wish theyd given him a diamond kiwi.

Exposure = players = good.

How many people bought kiwis after seeing someone in town with the shiny little bastard running around? It's just smart marketing, and if someone else getting a kiwi in a different way than is normal (gasp!) bothers you; grow the f--- up. It doesn't affect you, nor is it your business.

You gona flame and insult sites that advertise path of Exile also? How dare they!
Trespassers will be shot survivors will be shot again!

All I can say is, would throwing $100 Kripp's way for his very heavy advertising of PoE be any different than tossing him a kiwi to the same value?

Yes. Because he wouldn't use that $100 to buy a kiwi.

And it is a lousy argument to say that just because Kripp has sent well over $100 worth of supporters here, that he himself has financially supported PoE.

I'll reiterate. I did not support GGG to get a kiwi. But, the kiwi is was supposed to be a symbol of that support. Once a kiwi has been obtained by means other than financial support, it is just that. A kiwi.

I would be more okay if this had been the case.

I don't entirely disagree with you, man. I just wanted to say, as someone who did grab the kiwis, I have no real problem with the idea of someone who didn't buy one directly getting one because he supported the game in a less direct but still clearly financially-positive way.

This is how I replied to a PM about this issue:

I completely agree with your sentiment. There was a lot of discussion about this in the office at the time. I really do not want to dilute the value of the kiwis, so I can assure you that this will only happen in very discretionary circumstances. You'll notice he was given a Silver kiwi and not a higher tier one.

Also, it is worth noting that while he hasn't personally sent us money, he has put a substantial amount of time into promoting the game, which is definitely of value. His viewers have probably contributed thousands of dollars by now, at least. Such promotion helps the entire community by guaranteeing that there will be funds available for continued development.

Since then, he has made multiple youtube video and sent even more traffic our way. This is very, very good for the future of the game! I am very thankful and I hope our fans are as well :)

I completely agree here. Supporting POE can come in more forms than money alone (although Kripp could spend the $100 it wouldn’t hurt). I have been around for a long time and have contributed ideas, bug reports etc. but I have no technical knowledge as other Alpha members have. This resulted in me feeling like I’m not contributing enough to this game, hence my purchase of multiple support packs.

In saying this celebrities (I use this term broadly) often get perks for nothing else but being famous.

One thing I would like to see is either a special Alpha only kiwi or an option for alpha members to increase their kiwis size by 10% to show respect for their contribution throughout the game creation process.

RIP Bolto

The butthurt players just got owned. Grow up people, they gave him a kiwi not GGG shares.

Giving rewards to people who give a lot of exposure to their game is done by a lot of game companies. I mean GGG doesn't have a referal system let's say like Riot does for their game but I take this as the same. Some guy got a lot of people to play the game and those people are potential clients in the cash shop/support packages and the devs decided to give him a token of appreciation I see nothing wrong here.
By starting this squabble you've proven nothing but how vast your stupidity is.
