0.9.13 PvP - Poison Arrow Ranger Guide

Could you explain why there are 2 +1 Frenzy charges? I was under the impression that only 1 was needed to use Blood.
am i missing something?
how can blood work with ic?

p.s

do you get enough defense with this build!

Trying out a version of this that drops Iron Reflexes for something else.

So far it looks very promising for late-game.

So far I like the build. My level is in the low 30's and the build is working pretty good. I just can't use Chaos Inoculation with low shield.

What type of armor should I be using once I get Chaos Inoculation?

I'd like to preface this by saying that I have a 46 Ranger which utilizes this build. It's been extremely overpowered until just recently and even now I'm able to make forward progress with some difficulty. I'm nearly to act 2 in Ruthless.
I'm not sure if the OP is still responding, seems like he's not been on the thread recently, but if so, perhaps he or someone with deeper experience than I have in POE could lend some advice and perhaps help to weigh out some of the mid & endgame gearing advice.

My primary questions revolve around gearing for Iron Reflexes and Chaos Inoculation simultaneously. Both skills are so extreme and beg you to minmax them, however, you can't, obviously. While the build has plenty of dex and you can easily pump IR through the roof, both by wearing armor with the highest evasion available and the direct benefit that dex gives to evasion, both leading to seriously increased armor. However, while this build has a fair amount of intelligence, is doesn't provide enough without seriously supplementing through gear to really pump CI.

So...This is an odd build, one that I like, but which requires some pretty specific gear and perhaps more knowledge of game mechanics than I currently possess.

;TLDR This is a hybrid build, which has 2 contrasting and extreme defense skills and becomes difficult without proper/knowledge skills as you approach endgame.

Any advice would be welcome.

I think you can go CI with shadow gear (evasion + energy shield) but atm i'm lvl 34 and haven't used blood rage so far. I'm having huge mana issues - keeping LA at lvl 8 - i read somewhere the optimum is lvl 5 i believe ? In my opinion all the theorycrafting doesn't do much vs a proven build with gear listed. At the moment i would have to say this build is decent at best. I have trouble with some packs. Could be the crappy weapon i'm using tho.

I think going IR is best. Going CI is probably best if you decide to blood rage but then you would have to pump intel and get energy shield gear which might be slightly detrimental to the overall end-game gearing.
One of my characters with a similar build is working so far into Merciless Act 1. Still holding out on CI and Blood Rage 'til I get all my ES passives.

Judging by my death count, this is definitely not a Hardcore build.

OP didn't post much of a guide. It needs some additions such as mentioning how the ranger plays out, strategies for battle and specific mobs, and most important of all..an explanation of when and what to get in the Passive Tree ( such as by what level you should be getting CI )

I remember him mentioning when to grab CI, but it seems that piece of info got omitted.

CI does best when taken after level 31 (Discipline aura), with all Cooldown Recovery nodes, and finally after grabbing most of the +Maximum Energy Shield nodes shown in the build.

Eventually you'll come to a point where your ES is close to or greater than your life w/o Discipline aura; this is a good time to have 1-2 Life flasks that can be used more than twice at a time, 2-3 Diamond Flasks for those tough mobs, maybe a Granite Flask for tight situations, and 1 Mana Flask. Mods for these flasks are up to you, just make sure you have one for dispelling Chilled/Frozen and one for dispelling Burn.

Mana issues? Make sure Lightning Arrow is kept to a low level (often level 1 is best) and pick up Deep Wisdom up above as well as Mana Flows down below the skill-web. Mind Drinker to the right of the Shadow starting point may help and can be refunded later once you acquire Mana Leech support gem.

If your damage output seems to be suffering as you level, Poison Arrow can help you out as it's safe mana-wise to level up because the DoT is mostly how you kill with the skill rather than with direct hits and attack speed.

Sorry for not updating the guide, still have to run many tests. And yes, keep lightning arrow at level 1, this is a must have which I forgot to add.
