So here's one for this argument. If the game is balanced around players never having 6L items, then by definition they're hugely overpowered.

Not hugely, but yes, they quite strong and not considered required to beat all content.

Why is it OK for an obviously overpowered, game-breaking tier of items to exist

It occurs at the very end of a character's life. There's virtually no game left to break. I personally wish that supports in general were less powerful (lower benefit, lower MCM) so that the differences between a 4L, 5L, and 6L weren't quite so massive.

but "Path of Life Nodes" or "Path of Ranged" should not?

These are being addressed in 0.11, and will continue to be addressed in time as they affect gameplay throughout the life of the character.

Doesn't sound too accurate, really. It's not the end of the game, or Tabula Rasa would never have been added. 6L is an aspect. High ilvl, excellent mods, AND 6L... well then, there's not much left to break... except doing it again with a 6L suited to another build.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
6L is about 35% "more" damage compared to 5L, so ya it matters.

There is no way you could possibly quantify this with an average like that. There are SO MANY combinations you could use.

Also, it increases the cost.

Clearly the solution is to add yet another orb instead of I don't know, not making 6 linking needing 1500 damn orbs, if not more?

No one is meant to have a 6link item. It is a luxury feat to attain.
It seems to me that it is really unlikely an Eternal Orb would be used for this purpose. It actually increases the cost of 6L.

It's cheaper to stop linking once you have fewer than 300 Fuse remaining and roll a 5L.

The only real function I see for the Eternal Orb is to undo an Exalted Orb. And that function is just too narrow to justify a whole new orb. But what do I know? GGG are the experts.

While it was not in the 0.11 announcement, they are presently testing a system where you can increase the quality of your armor/weapon to 20 first, and then attempt to 6L. While they do not give out information about how likely the 6L will be to make, they have said that it will be substantially more likely.

This may or may not make the 0.11 drop.
6l...ive been playing this game for over 2 months and ive never seen a 5l drop for me yet
Player without 6L: 6L is overpowered and godly.

Player with 6L: 6L is no big deal and not worth the trouble.

Rational Player:
Spoiler
trick question... there's no such thing.

You might be interested in this, they said this will probably be in 0.11.0.
