Installer Error

Hi,

I just purchased the beta and am trying to install the game.

I downloaded a 6.5mb msi file and when I launch it to install the program I get the following error:

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

I've tried to do the right click Troubleshoot compatibility as mentioned in another thread, no luck, it gives the same error.

Any suggestions?

Windows 7 SP1, fully updated.

oh and I am installing as an administrator.

It can be a security setting that prevents running MSI files.

Thanks, however I've tried all the suggestions in that thread already.

What happens when you:

Right Click on the File,
Select OPEN WITH ...
Choose Windows Installer.




If you want to add the RUN AS ADMIN to the RightClick drop down; Check here

As with any REG file extension, you can view it in TEXT EDITOR to see the contents.

Both those suggestions give the same error as my first post.

Start > Search > CMD > Right Click > Run as Admin > (mine drops me at the Documents and Settings\UserName) > CD Desktop (I assume you downloaded it to the desktop) > Msiexec /a pathofexileinstaller.msi

Check Microsoft for how to repair the MSI installer. Think Win7 uses 4.5 or newer.


If that does not work and you are not using COMODO Internet Security or Firewall....I need SPECCY by Piriform...download, run, scan, TOP LEFT CORNER ...FILE > PUBLISH SNAPSHOT.

DO NOT POST THE TEXT FILE...it contains personal info.


I'm gone for 12 hours.

I've tried running it through cmd, with different switches, /i, /p etc

Same error.

I will see about repair the msi installer, I did at one point a long time ago have COMODO Firewall installed.

So I am at a loss here, I've paid for access and cannot get it.
I've tried everything I could find via these forums and searching and nothing works.
