Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
I would like to add that another frustrating thing about the loot system is the confusion of where the item is dropped.
Sometimes the item appears to have dropped on "floor 1" but is actually on "floor 2" up the stairs and somebody noticed that before you did and grabbed it. There's also a delay in which I can pick up the item at times. It's probably due to the fact a player/mob is standing on it and currently unavailable to pick it up... It is quite odd. Great Game Design is one that allows players to have a few options when doing certain activities. In this case it would be a good idea to give party leaders control of loot rules and would be disclosed via a symbol on the game in the browser or could be part of the description or title itself? I don't really care to tell the devs how frustrated or what have you anymore. They know what they are going to do, but I'm just relaying more feedback. IGN: Mibuwolf

yea, I know its gonna "change" but what i'm saying is to be realistic about it, it'll probably change very little and that is what toying with times is.
" Everybody seems to forget that they had/still_have some "secret" funding for like 4-5 years while this game was not even closed beta. Who knows, maybe their biggest problem is not money and they have calculations made that they'll profit/survive even with a small niche player base consisting of "hardcore" gamers. Who knows. I don’t think that they need to drastically change the system. If they keep the timer and extend it they will resolve many player complaints. With the current pace of multiplayer game a timer of 10 secconds would be suffecent to kill the remaining monsters and walk over to your loot.

They probably wont extend the timers because they already said that is not acceptable because "it slows the game pace".
So all that remains is timer-toying: increase a little on some item-types and decrease a little from other item-types. Sum=0. That is why i said it'll be very little change. Actually it wont be a change per se, it'll be fine tuning of the existing system. We'll see. Sometime. |

" I call BS on increased timer ‘slows down pace’ statement. You don’t have to wait for the timer to expire to grab your own loot. So having a 10 second timer verses a 3 second timer is not going to affect the pace for the assinged player. There was a reddit post by Brian recently. In it he stated that they tested out longer loot timers but found that it slowed the game down. I was in closed beta for over a year and never saw loot options so I can only assume that they tested this in the Alpha Realm. Players behave differently in a FFA environment based on how exclusive the group is. The move from closed beta to open beta is proof of this phenomena. The Alpha realm is a great resource for some testing but the Devs need to realize that it does have limitations. An increased timer can affect the pace in an exclusive group like Alpha differently than a large anonymous realm like open beta. IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client

I just wanted to post in here that I enjoy the FFA lootsystem very much. I have a group of guys I play with now where we will do 6 man docks. Since we all decimate everything on the map the only real challenge is competing for loot. Please do not change it. Also, do not give me the option to play an easier mode as it would seduce me into it, and my friends would also switch to it as well. As far as group play goes it is a very divided topic, yes I would play it, but no I don't want it.
I could just imagine it. Fighting mobs then frolicking along the docks singing "tralalalala" holding hands and shooting rainbow lazers and adopting unicorns from the mythical pet shelter. Just leave it, most people that don't come to the forums to complain prefer the system as it stands now. We have 30k+ people playing the game and the same 10 or so replying to each other in this thread. I am glad GGG can see through the haze. Stay stronk bros, I got this! ![]() Last edited by Worldbreaker#6569 on Feb 14, 2013, 9:59:09 AM

" I agree! And keep FFA to make it truly hardcore. You are a genious! ![]() |

" Well since FFA is not actually in the game… how about they increase the multiplayer difficulty and add FFA in controlled environments like the cut throat league or as a map mod? IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client

" I like that idea and supported a different league with a twist on looting. A casual league with instanced loot, no death penalties and unlimited respecs. Orb of regret drops would be exchanged with Alchemy/Chaos. |
