Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
The current loot system has so many problems. Free for all loot is a bad idea, unless the party leader can be given party options to extend the FFA loot time (or make the item drop permanent) or remove loot time altogether. And if someone wants to fight for loot, they can make a group for it, and people who don't like that play style can avoid the group if they are looking for nice grouping.
With the current system, anyone passing in front of you or standing on your loot has a very large chance of stopping your character from getting the loot. Especially with the timer sometimes lasting for what seems like a second. People play for loot. Everybody plays for loot. Cutthroat doesn't need to apply to loot. Why add even more greed and despair into a game? Last edited by Sizzlebuzz#3174 on Feb 9, 2013, 5:56:00 PM

" couldnt have said it better myself. So many times i lose such a good item or Quality gem because melee stand on top my loot. My guy sometimes will stop walking to loot after i click, like there is a problem with the pathing, and i lose it. When i try to humbly mention that it was my loot, my name on it fair is fair, i am name called. The thing with player v player loot system is that you are suppose to work as a team to beat a common goal, but when you introduce such loot mechanics you throw that out the door. I prefer a longer timer and/or option for party leader to adjust said timer or remove it all together. ign SeaSaint or DadSaint

Your name was not on the item when it was looted, therefore saying it HAD your name on it is irrelevant.
To the other poster. A group of strangers =/= team. |

I was originally liking the FFA Loot system. Now I find myself getting more and more pissed at public games. My ping times average between 150 - 300. Meaning that I NEVER get to pick up items that are even allocated to me.
The players getting all the loot are the ones with the best computers/lowest FPS and best internet connections (ping times less that 100). For everyone else I am sure this looting system has them avoiding public games like the plague. I for one do not like playing solo, but as it is now I can never get drops regardless if it was allocated to me or not. I actually rage quit today after loosing about the 10th item in a row dropped for me even tho I clicked it about 10 times before it disapeard into another players inventory. Half the time it disappears before the timer is even up. Frustrated. -ntall1 |

" I think this guy has a good idea. Allowing the party leader to dictate how loot drops for players would allow everyone to choose options they want to play with. And allow ppl joining groups to see what they are getting into. It would also allow GGG to get actual statistics to see who is using what, and have some actual data on the most preferred loot system. All in all, if the current loot system stays the way it is I think the timers should be increased to account for players with low latency. Not everyone has the best internet in the world. I moved to New Mexico and my constant source of frustration is the bad internet that is available. |

I have quit playing out of frustration due to being ninjad in the face too many times due to desync.
I am literally standing right next to the item, but someone else runs up to it and takes in in my face. -hwY 53 HC mara |

" Half the pages are 4 to 5 people pouncing on anyone that says they like FFA. Give it 500 more pages. |

"Don't act like the people in favor of FFA weren't jumping on anyone that says they didn't like FFA. |

Just make it an option, with other standard loot division methods (round robin, party leader decision, etc). What's the big fucking issue? The loot still gets into the economy.
Alternatively, just increase the timer on the items. It's not as if everyone doesn't already stop and stand around the rare or unique that dropped, so the pace of the game is interrupted anyway. And besides, the entire FFA system is usually metagamed, what with gentleman's rules and such, which bypasses the intended effect that GGG was going for. All this FFA nonsense does is create a whole lot of strife and some pissed-off gamers some of whom may or may not decide to give GGG any money. " Why would solo play and instanced have to drop different amounts of loot? I don't see why instanced can't be exactly the same as playing solo but with more players in the instance? Standard Forever Last edited by iamstryker#5952 on Feb 9, 2013, 11:54:23 PM
