Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

FFA is a terrible idea, the timer is way too short. It was the worst part of D2 and i have no clue why ggg copied it. Ranged classes are still at huge disadventage and running to the mobs when they are almost dead is just stupid. Many times before boss/rare is dead whole party stops attacking, stacks on him and tries to snipe loot. Its so anti climatic that it hurts. Not to mention that hacks will be coming soon to poe, it will be like D2 all over again. 90% of ppl will be using auto pickup hack. Just make the timer twice as long or give us a "no ffa" option for grouping. If i will want some pvp ill go play some arenas.

That is just what they intended! And it can still be achieved but this discussion here is clear proof that the system is still flawed.

The timer they put in only leads to entitlement issues from raging control freaks.

The issues with FFA loot are as follow in my eyes:
-It forces people to focus more on loot than on fighting creatures. This leads to issues like players who contribute the most to the group and least rewarded while those who leech are mostly rewarded. Distraction from combat leading to more deaths.
-It also make a lot of player prefer solo at all cost over multiplay which reduces and take away from the coop experience.

Personally, I will just solo 99% of the time to avoid this system at all cost. The few times I will group is when I need to leech xp and will probably just do my best to prioritize looting while leeching xp as much as I can because its what the system encourage. So I guess you could say I will use the system as it is intended....I simply debate that this system is probably flawed.


I should also mention that I played with a friend in same room as him in closed beta and we had to constantly discuss to try to make looting fair but that it was still difficult because sometimes we would loot too fast for the other to really tell what it was that dropped. We tried a system of one yellow each but even after only a few hours, we were borderline to argue about loot. its just in my eyes a poor system.
i would bold feedback too.
because this thread is feedback ... which will be used to better the game

NO its not void of all logic. Its makes perfect sense.

Its like asking Justin Bieber to sound more like SlipKnot and asking SlipKNot to be more like Justin Bieber.


In the end if you want Beiber listen to Beiber... And vise versa.


There are many other games out there that cater to the more mainstream entitled plaayers needs from skill trees to loot. D3 is perfect for those people.


Instant skill swappping, personal loot etc. Why, in gods name would aanyone come over to another games where the games devs vision is FFA loot and demand change?



And now we are back to where we started.. If you do not like it move to other game... Voodoo let the Dev take that call you have not a single right to say to players "get the fact out of my game" let the company make that call seriously...
Other fact that ffa is better please? We got sick hearing the same Bs from 1-2 defenders
