why do people gamba?

yes, but it simply is not profitable to gamble div card. you got lucky that's all.
To id unis might be another story but div card gambling has negative value and will therefore always end in the player losing, unless they do it only a couple of times get insanely lucky(it's called variance)and stop there.

ty telling that to all the people i know who do nothing but house of mirror gambling since day 2, have a few guys in my guild who make 20+ mirrors from house of mirror cards in 1 go, his juice counter is at almost 750m yellow juice spent over multiple leagues, he buys yellow lifeforce by the mirror and makes multiple mirrors in return. if you have enough currency to keep doing it and you do it right you're gonna make profit no matter what, if you do 1 card at a time yes there's a high chance of it just poofing, but if you do stacks, wether 2-4 there's a higher chance of a return than a loss. he'll throw in stacks of 4 and they just keep doubling, and when they start going down in number he picks a different number to work with. hes

as a gambling addict, i play poe just to gamble so i dont spent irl money, it can be anything from stacked decks and valdos boxes, to house of mirror gambling on the whorification station with yellow juice, identifying watcher's eyes or sublime visions, i made over 1 mirror with 1 sublime vision this league and many mirrors with house of mirror doubling, its all for that dopamine hit you get from gambling.

It is the same with the doubling strategy in roulette. After more than one century people cannot accept that it simpyl does not work, because obv you can just win once and then quit. Thre is a reason the green zero exist and when it comes to div card gambling yellow juice is the green zero. You cannot win, the house always wins.

Ok, that sounds just about like the guys that figured out the doubling strategy for roulette a long time ago ;P Your argument has zero math as to why that should be the case, just superstition that changing the stack size makes any difference xd

It's the same as roulette: "oh but when you lose, all you have to do is double your bet. Because you just lost, it's now more likely that you win and you will win double."(spoiler: it's not more likely)

Obv it's more likely that when you use 4 cards, the cards will not poof completely, compared to one card. But that just makes you spend even more juice for the same odds to win. You have a little less variance but it doesn't change the fact that you cannot win in the longrun.

There is no printing mirrors strategy with gambling div cards. Streamers do it to farm content and clips and they sometimes get very lucky. And even if they don't, deleting hundreds of divs on camera nets a lot of clicks eventually. That's all there is.

all I'm saying is that playing the game doesn't make you money in the game, gambling or doing services for people nets you money, every league i get my mageblood withing the first few days by gambling, whether it be stacked decks and getting good cards or valdo boxes and getting good item maps, I've never been able to grind and get a mageblood within a week. if your luck is trash that's a you problem lol

I don't know about lifeforce card gambling, but in the case of the martingale roulette it's even worse than stated : even if there's no green zero, in a fair bet the expected winner is the side that started with the most money, which is usually the casino.

I'v always kind of wondered if any group players out there pooled funds into gamble at the start of a league to try and get an edge on the market. Seems risky but it could pay off but I bet lots of ppl would get mad if they started to get super unlucky with it. I know some people go ham on gamble early in league to try and get a full build fast and that to me is kind of risky. Could be good for the player base if gambling was only unlocked when a player was about to quit lul.

thats impossible. hes either hacking and sending packets to fool the server, or lying. the chance of 1/3 of win, 1/3 nothing happens, 1/3 of loss. there's no way to achieve a profitable strategy in a fair game. plus the cost of vivid crystallized lifeforce means u lose gradually over time.

gambler's ruin is because a symmetric random walk is recurrent, so ur guaranteed to visit 0 (bankrupt) if u keep playing.

also u can have positive expected value but still certainty of bankruptcy if u keep playing, this happens when the log expectation is negative. its why i never gamba.

It is obv not true, it's a fairy tale of an imaginary friend. If there would be any value in this gamble, the big players(organized groups) would just print non stop, because a gamble that has positive value just prints endlessly if you can overcome the variance, which is easily possible since they spam mirror after mirror on crafts they could beat the variance easy on the div card gamble. Yet, they do not print mirrors with this gamble because it has negative value and they would go broke sooner or later.

Opening stacked decks is a gamble with positive value as long as the stacked decks are under a certain price.
Rerolling awakening gems used to be profitable in the past, but it's work.
But gambling with house of mirror or Apothecary, or whatever else, is not profitable. It has negative value. Therefore, you cannot print mirrors at the Harvest bench. You will go broke sooner or later. If you got a mirrror or a Mageblood out of that gamble, consider yourself very lucky, gz ;P

I guess I'll agree with you on the fact that it's pretty useless to gamble because even if you win it mostly just makes you quit the game faster because you'll have every item you ever wanted and have nothing left to chase.
