Feedback from longtime 36/40 and 40/40 player about challenge design
" Nah, most players play SC trade, and you told us that challenges only really mean something if done in HC ssf. In this case nothing of value gets lost for SC players if they move the rewards to HC SSF. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Thanks to everyone for bumping this thread and giving it visibility though, good to know everyone agrees with me.

" I agree with you, challenges in SC trade mean nothing and therefore should be moved to HC SSF exclusive rewards. It's good that we're on the same page of what GGG should focus on for the next league. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

And I've already said what needs to be done with challenges to make em perfect anyways, just delete t17s and ubers from the list. Nobody likes doing that content anyway, its made for the 1%. Until then I shall keep throwing my divs at carry services, because that's the best and fastest way to do em.
They're only getting easier and more passive every league, so the game is going in the correct direction in terms of the design of the challenges. Its only a matter of time until they become even more casual-friendly, to attract more players. Though the mtx rewards could use some variety, I'm kinda bored of getting armor set #36467. Portals and other stuff were cooler. A really nice 36/40 reward helps with player retention a lot. |

" Fortunately this won't happen, so best we can hope is that GGG finally makes challenges HC SSF exclusive, so it's actually something just for the 1%. " But even if only 1% enjoys the content, it means that someone likes doing that content. A bit odd to say that nobody likes doing that content, innit? " Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. https://www.pathofexile.com/purchase https://www.pathofexile.com/shop " Good league content helps with player retention, so the best thing would be to bring t17 back to it's former glory, reintroduce AN and move challenge rewards towards SSF HC. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

" Lul I've been a NEET my whole life, why do you think I grab any twitch drop and free mtx/box I can? I ain't spending anything on the shop. The only reason I was able to buy stash tabs is cuz I was just given gifts and stuff. Same reason why I care about the mtx rewards from challenges, I want f2p players to have some cool rewards to obtain. |

Does it not bother you at all to share so much of your private life?
And if the goal is genuinely to see F2P players have meaningful rewards, wouldn’t supporting the game yourself help sustain that, considering the developers aren’t running and developing the game for free? Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee

" No, because I'm proud of my lifestyle. And I've already supported the game by buying a few stash tabs anyway. |

" I want to highlight this again because I personally feel it is the biggest "fault" of Toff's argument (and I mentioned it earlier too). Easier challenges, 36/40 or 40/40 or whatever, does NOT accomplish "retention" goals as he claims. The challenge completion rates and players are simply a byproduct of a well-designed league and the state of the OVERALL game. Take the challenges completely out of the mix and you'll lose a few people like Toff.....but the actual retention likely wouldn't meaningfully change at all. There simply aren't a large group of players, toffy likely included in some situations, that would stick with a crap league in any meaningful way to get their 40/40. They would mostly be long gone. Similarly, groups of players aren't likely flocking to the game BECAUSE of the challenges.....they are there because the league is good......and they just happen to like completing the challenges as well. It is a BYPRODUCT of other things that are good for retention, not a metric or representative tool.in any shape and form on its own. Plus.....more meaningful challenges would simply be a BETTER retention tool. Cut the fluff away and attract more diehards. Diehards are generally the big spenders anyway. Retaining someone who plays for a week, makes no purchases, and skips half the game is..........just not worth it for anyone.
