Feedback from longtime 36/40 and 40/40 player about challenge design

"
Nah bruh.

If you are going to have challenges, they should at the very least include "complete most of the endgame content available in this league".

I would actually argue the t17 challenge and the uber boss challenge for this league should have said "complete all of" instead of "complete x # of", and I would also support deathless and no zone-out as a requirement for the uber bosses.

36 for the loot, 40 for the satisfaction I say.

You already can do the deathless limitation yourself though, by just playing in HC so there would be no point putting that in. As for no zoning out that one's just weird, seems like it would be only something to put in a competitive race event like gauntlet than anything else.

And challenge requirements have only been getting more lenient with stuff like "do 3 of these 8 league mechs x amount of times" so I really don't see them forcing players to kill all uber bosses, all that would do is make the boss carry services even more divines lol

Ey man I'm happy to pay my divs to all the kind people providing these carry services on TFT or trade 820.

Exactly, this is why the uber boss challenges feel so bad. Nobody wants to have to go through campaign again, if we had campaign skip or alternate leveling options it would be a bit better. But we don't, so removing these challenges is the next best thing.

That's what players min-max characters for, to slap every content on one character.
They should keep ubers on the challenge list and just remove the carry cheese, cause without ubers challenges would be even more boring. Luckily we both already know that they stick with ubers as part of the challenge like pretty much every other league.

This would be the kind of challenge we actually need, all ubers + ubers with conditionals. Since challenges are optional you're not forced to engage with them even if GGG puts out really fun stuff.
They should also bring back challenges like Master the Blood Crucible from the Scourge leagues.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Challenges have ALWAYS included "pinnacle" content. Always. They have encouraged people to make new builds AFTER they have beaten the game. That was (and remains) their purpose.

The "pinnacle" of PoE has changed: it is no longer Shaper. It is no longer Sirus. It is no longer Pit of the Chimera. It is t17s and ubers.

Your adamant refusal as a player to adjust with the times is more of a selling point to write off your entire opinion as hogwash.....than it is of a legitimate player complaint or suggestion. Especially from someone with thousands and thousands of hours into this game.

In previous threads, you have said you cannot make a functional build yourself. You also say you refuse to build defenses. Well guess what? Your "refusal" should result in you being UNABLE to get 40/40 challenges. The challenges shouldn't bend to a bare minimum player. That's how we end up with High School and college graduates who......can't read or do basic math.

And yet I still do them every league, only having to buy carries for ubers and t17s. That's the beauty of SC Trade, you can farm currency and buy anything you can think of.

People sell entire builds. People sell campaign carry services if you're too lazy to slog through it yourself. People sell challenge carries even for the most basic, simple vendor recipe ones, or the gem challenges like "reach lvl26/53% qual on a gem" where they just trade you the items to equip and insta-complete it, and players buy those services. Its a really great part of the in-game economy and I love it. Not to mention all the people hosting exp leech groups for free, that's cool too.

Challenges only really mean anything if done in HC SSF anyways, or the Ruthless set. SC Trade is a sandbox, a really fun one where even I get to complete my goals in whatever way I see fit.

True, that's why they should make challenge rewards HC ssf exclusive, good point toffy.

It would do nothing to player retention.

You are a big fish in a teeny teeny tiny pond of players Toff

I would just really like to actually spend all of my currency on gear upgrades instead of being forced to buy uber boss and t17 carries every league.

These statements do not appear to be in complete agreement, which calls into question the accuracy of one or both.
