Does GGG want us to stop playing at level 90?

XP gains drop off a cliff and xp loss on death ramp up at the most easy to die point in the game. So we should just stop playing? Is that what they want?
Im not against xp loss and was fine with it right up until it got absurd. For me the point is right at level 90. Im trying new content and i die a few times sometimes my fault, some times its buggy laggy nonsense. The juice was worth the squeeze right up until this threshold(level 90) and now in my humble opinion its over tuned. (perhaps its the gains that are too small, either way the math is wrong) The time you steal from me should be a slap on the wrist. Enough to sting not enough to make me want to play a different game that respects my time more. I am at a loss here how is everyone else ok with it? Do you play less difficult content and grind to minimize risk? That would suck the fun right out of the game for me. How do you all do it? Last bumped on Jan 2, 2026, 2:24:58 PM

" The more close to lvl up you are, yes. I can't recommend playing pen, or -res and expect to not die sometimes. BTW Omens of amelioration are literally free, so exp penalty is almost none. On Probation Any%

What a weird game design. Create a mechanic that punishes people and create mechanisms to prevent the punishment. Just to irritate your more novice players. Seems pretty stupid to me if gaining/keeping new players is your goal. regardless thanks again. Edit: sorry they are 50exs each and i don't exploit so its way to rich for my blood. " Just think that 90 or 95 is max lvl. There is no point in pushing to 100 if you are a casual gamer. This has been around since POE 1. GGG does not want max level to be easily attainable.
If you're not having this game as a job and not playing the top OP builds, I wouldn't bother past 90. I've always considered 90 ass my end game, level wise. Past this point, if I go beyond I consider it a bonus. And power wise, past 90 is just a min max thing. Basically, once I hit 90, I just lose my restraint and just go for the most dangerous stuff; if I win I win, if I die....repeat. |

90 or 95 is the soft cap yeah.
And I agree the idea of an omen that reudce exp penalty is kind of stupid...just make it the default and remove that crap. Tech guy

my suggestion has always been to let the player choose
either we can choose to lose their map portal/access but when we die we don't lose XP, or we can have keep our waystone access upon death but when we die we do lose xp so the player can choose if they want to lose their map or their xp upon death, and can freely swap at will |
