Casual player - game not rewarding

Personally I find using trade such a lame and easy way to progress your character. I always start SSF. I've had to switch to trade to progress in past patches, against my will. In 0.4 SSF with a druid I have got further than any class before (T12s) and found progression for the most part pretty smooth. If I were on trade I could have bought way better gear and be way further into endgame, it's just that that is not satisfying to me in any way.

Are the casuals buying cosmetics to keep the game alive?

Without casuals, the whales wont buy cosmetics because there wont be any peons to show them off to.

I don't know if I qualify as a whale, but I play SSF and just go from hideout to maps. I buy cosmetics for headcanon: huntress has a different hideout from mercenary, because their backstories in my head are different. No other player sees my cosmetics, ever.

OP, I think these drops are the best ever, in any league so far.

I agree with the posters who said SSF is in a good place right now.
Evasion-only melee character that can kill Ubers with cheap gear (SSF Rise of the Abyssal), no armor, no energy shield, 62k eHP:

Cept streamers, who can show them off on stream.

This isn't a PvP or MOBA game, most cosmetic is for the gamer himself to see not others. So yes if the casual move away then the game is dead cuz there's not much gacha in the mtx shop but mostly is in the crafting which means you need players to have a demand for currencies.
