Why even make POE2?

Took 5 days for Last of the Druids to die. Both leagues have been really really bad. But at least one game has a good foundation, can't say that about the second iteration

Daily reminder that 0.4 is the worst day 1 retention PoE2 league so far

https://poe2db.tw/League#ConcurrentPlayers

At day 11 0.4 reach 52%, which is even worse than PoE1 worst retention league in 8 recent leagues (Crucible 54.9% - day 11)

I think part of it might be hubris, but they also want to bring in the casual D4 audience who are intimidated by PoE 1 or think it's "too old"
Because they want to increase the potential revenue by creating their own gaming environment. PoE 1 > 2 > 1 > 2...

Nothing is really change fundamentally in PoE 2. Still the same game : Itemization, randomization, balanced around trade / economic. The key differences are added dodge roll, visual upgrade, worse "crafting" mechanic, "slower" campaign for campaign gamer (player still reach endgame map in day 1 and finishing atlas point in day2).

They already made it with PoE 1, they made their name and money, now they just do whatever they want be it worse or better. They don't need to reach that level of recognition and success anymore. The audience is already cultivated, and that is all matters. There is no incentives to create a whole new different game and taking risk with it, the board members / share-holders will most likely wont agree with it.

They made an announcement it was going to be an alternate campaign and with updated graphics while simultaneously releasing their new yearly supporter packs and probably generating record revenue from it.

They then changed it to being too limiting and they had to rebuild it all from the ground up. If that's the case, why are they adding dodge roll, limiting skill gems to weapons, pushing 1-2 builds on each class, and making it generally unfun and uncreative?

People wanted what they promised. If they deliver beyond that then that is amazing but what they have done so far is not it.

They should've kept the game private for a few more years and refused to drop any quality or value for poe 1.

i love ggg i think they will make it great, but the way they went about it, the minsinformation etc, was really not great
