Barkskin crash bug: loss of XP/items when transforming into human with barkskin only in 1 weapon set

I was in the middle of a researcher strongbox on whakapanu right near entrance, instance crashed and I got disconnected to title screen (PS5 Pro). I logged back in, the whole instance was gone and I was in the previous island I had been in before. So I went back to whakapanu, it was a new instance, coincidentally it also had a researcher strongbox right near the entrance, and it crashed the same way again. Bear + fury of the mountain + shockwave totem.

- I am able to reproduce this crash reliably, whakapanu crashes every single time
- the strongbox is unrelated
- shockwave totem is unrelated
- it seems to be crashing in bear form whether I use only furious slam or only fury of the mountain
- the crash is a bad one... it resets my character save progress from the instance. I lose any drops or XP accumulated in whakapanu instance

If you have already respawned in whakapanu, then the crash will not destroy the instance, but it still fails to save your character's progress and any items and XP are lost.

The crash appears to be triggered occasionally but reliably when de-transforming from bear back to human while fighting.

It doesn't seem to be tied to any particular mob type, debuff, or bear/human skill. My bear is using bark skin, arctic armour, and my human form is using blasphemy.

If I don't transform into a bear, or stay transformed as a bear and never go back to human, then it doesn't crash.

GGG this crash seems like high priority because it results in potentially extensive XP/item loss.

I was just in Isle of Kin for an extended period, I farmed a lot of it, picked up many items and XP, and then this same crash happened and I lost all that progression and it booted me back to the previous island I was on.

One of the most pernicious things about this crash is it can happen any time you are transforming from bear back into human, including if you are trying to town portal to save your progress.

I was just back in Isle of Kin and I dropped something decent, tried to town portal to save my character progress to avoid losing the item to this crash, and it crashed when I tp'd. I lost the item. I have crashed like this 10+ times today.

Confirmed the crash also happens if you're a different animal and transforming back into human. I just crashed as a werewolf transforming back into human.

I thought it may be because I was using incinerate with transforms, which I suppose is rare. But I just unequipped incinerate and the crash bug still happened when transforming back into human, lost my progression again. PS5 Pro, has happened on Isle of Kin and Whakapanu.

I switched to PC and it's happening there, too. Looks like a serverside issue.

My current attempted mitigation is to never transform back into a human, including no TP and no talking to any NPCs. I plan to exit to char selection to try and save progress. Otherwise I am crashing too often to get through these campaign areas.

Ok GGG I isolated the bug.

When you have barkskin active (and a barkskin duration buff is active) in your transformed weapon set 1, and then you de-transform to a human where barkskin is not active in that weapon set 2, then the server will crash your character every time and you lose your XP/progress.

The workaround is to not use barkskin or use it active in both weapon sets at the same time, or don't use barkskin with transforming.

Can confirm. Playing wyvern druid. Happens when transforming back to human. First it happened in my Temple, then I couldnt get past Kopec because when you summon Alva you transform when you talk to her. I immediately removed my talisman after I killed him and now I am having the same issue when going across the bridge to Viper queen when you transform for the RP walk. I tried removing talisman before the bridge but immediately DCd. I ran through the level without my talisman and got to and killed viper queen putting my talisman back on but immediately DCd after that as well.
