After playing PoE1 again I have to say PoE 2 is looking better and better

Old time fan of PoE 1 and PoE is still king when it comes to content and build diversity. But I have to say I'm getting less and less motivated with this game.
By the time I play endgame its just so fast, so much effects everywhere, flask-piano and when I die its usually from some mega spike of damage. There are just so many modifiers that atleast I kinda stop caring what to really avoid unless its reflect. Worst of all most league mechanics just seems to be made for messy eye-cancer gameplay, like Dilerium, the new breaches, Blight etc.. I just dont find the combat to be fun when its just a mess which is sometimes quite laggy as well. Meanwhile in PoE 2 it feels like I have much more control of the character and the mobs are less crazy fast. I haven't played so much of PoE 2s endgame just yet, so maybe it will turn to the worse but I hope they stick to more traditional pace and also design encounters that aren't just about flooding the screen with monsters and effects. (Note however just because I like PoE 2s pace better, that doesn't mean I don't think they have waaay too big maps in it and that some acts generally seem drawn out and kinda sluggish. ) Last bumped on Nov 19, 2025, 9:22:32 AM

That is such a weird thing to say. The main complaint about PoE 1 is that it is too easy to screen clear to the point where you can do it while watching something else. Meanwhile, PoE 2 is very punishing and a game you must pay attention to.
Every other issue can be attributed to a lack of content currently in PoE 2. Give it some years and the game will be in the exact same plays PoE 1 is at the moment. Last edited by Johny_Snow#4778 on Nov 15, 2025, 6:18:28 PM

" I agree that PoE 2 is a tad too punishing in some cases. But still when i play my character I feel like i have decent control atleast, I dont get that feel in PoE 1. In PoE 1 to bring some form of a challange you need crazy mods on maps and just and abundance of monsters with lightning speed or some effect you wont notice in time. Since PoE 1 also has factors like characters with several thousands of life reg every second, spike damage kind have to exist. PoE 2 this doesnt have to be the cases and I generally find myself dying less often from burst damage and other BS. I also fear PoE 2 will turn into exactly the same pace as PoE 1. But I really hope that wont be the case. And since they are adding re-works of PoE 1s league mechanics it doesn't have to be as cancerous as PoE 1s. I already think they have kinda done that with the new Abyss function and to some extent the rituals. I hope they keep that in mind and continue to not create clusterfuck messy gameplay. Like seriously in PoE 1 fighting a packed ritual area, is it really fun gameplay? Sure most people mainly care a bout the loot, but don't you want good combat in your ARPG? |

" In boss fights? Sure. When mapping? Well, it depends on how you define "good combat". When doing ten acts, thousands of maps and several builds during a league, the thought of waddling around every rare monster, fighting them like my life depends on it sounds like the recipe for burnout after your sixth map. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Poe2 is vastly superior at this point. Despite the "no endgame" whining, more people played 0.3 for longer than both 3.26 and 3.27.
Reality is reality. Last edited by sempuken#7215 on Nov 16, 2025, 3:41:54 PM

" Missing a lot of context here. The only reason so many people showed up for 0.3 was because of the new act, no such thing in PoE 1 whatsoever, so no reason for players to show up en masse. 2 weeks on and the drop both in PoE 1 and in PoE 2 was around 50%, so to say that one game clearly outperforms the other is a lie. " Not playing your DodgerollDiablo4, Johnathan. |

" There is also a tad bit of what I experience at work with the younger folks, think early 20s (I'm pushing 40 for reference). They view PoE1 as an "old game" which to be fair at this point it is, these people aren't going back and playing Diablo 2 or anything like that either, because they are old games. All that to say, they play PoE2 because it is a "new game". I think there is a lot of that going on with PoE2 honestly, its just a new game thats hyped up at the moment but is it really better because more people play it? I don't think so. B E E F

" you mean the game with vastly dumbed down difficulty in building and game knowledge with shiny new graphics and half a decade of advertisement beats its predecessor in absolute player count? shocking. Now please clarify how this translates into it being "superior". Are you saying we should define our preferences after playercount? Current Build: Penance Brand

" All my characters I have played in PoE 2 have the screen clear deluxe so don't know what crap you play 😂 |
