Passive skill points MUST be increased

I feel like just making attribute passives give 10 points instead of 5 will solve a lot of problems.

I've often found myself in a position where my skill tree is too "efficient" with few travel nodes. So I have to go and make the pathing "worse" by going through more attributes. (or get attributes on gear)

Like for my last test character. I need 157INT for lvl21 gems, 67STR to use my armour, 86DEX to use a certain spirit gem. This is not even massive requirements but I had to path through and get every node with attributes near the main path just to meet all requirements. Scraped it exactly with a lvl97 character.

Your requirement seems like you can fix it with one or two attribute affixes.

Do you have really nothing good to pick that you are wasting something as important as passive skill point?

Or you need very specific affixes, and you cannot afford to use them on items?

I had good passives to pick but had to take worse passives to get the attributes I needed. This was just testing a build so I didn't really want to swap gear to get more attributes. Because you swap one piece, then you are no longer res capped, which means you have to swap another piece and then another...

Getting attributes just feels like a boring choice to make when building characters. Especially if you have to make your skill tree worse to get what you need. POE1 at least had those 30 STR/INT/DEX nodes spread around the tree which helped a lot to fill in the gaps.

I agree, we need at least 6 more extra points!!!
The Holy Bible
points are fine .
tree needs work.
more intersections.
fewer travel nodes.

this
We all paid something to get into early access. Why would they waste the effeort to have a completely finished passive tree when lots of players are just going to tell them they did it wrong?
New classes will be coming everyone. Which means more notables & space will be added into the tree. Which means you will need more points to reach what you are reaching in the skill tree right now.

Currently there are 8 classes, 1000 (more or less) passive skill nodes in the tree and 123 max points. If the number of classes will be raised to 9, nodes to be 1050, WHY ARE THEY KEEPING MAX POINTS AVAILABLE FIXED TO 123 ? Where is the logic ???

If you are going to say: "all nodes you need are already in front of your class, that is how it is designed", then please, dear GGG, assign all points that I should be assigning instead of me and lets get rid of the meaning of "build" completely.

You are acting like diversity of builds should be depending only on unique items.

You are giving players a huge canvas BUT little bit of paint, then expecting variety of creations because you provided different brushes (i.e. unique items).

Here is an idea to discuss:

At least, once a new class released, some amount of passive skill points should be coming with the patch for the players to be able to compensate the added space (as mentioned above).

If your problem is: people will use extra skill points only to one shot bosses or to make their meta builds even more broken, then the problem is not the skill points. Its the perfectly(!) balanced meta.

I will be defending the idea of "freedom & diversity of builds" until I run out of hope. Not there yet.

PS: since the game is still in beta, it is the perfect time to discuss opinions.

I hope GGG actually reads and thinks about these posts, instead of throwing them away without care.

Kindest regards.

As other have said, this 100%. We should have to make hard decisions on whether to path one way or the other. I would like to see a rework on both the tree and some ascendancy skills.
