Error: Failed to join instance because Disconnected from server

I get this error when I try to use my own portal back from town. Error: Failed to join instance because Disconnected from server. Failed to join any instances.


This happened when I joined friends party. Took their portal to a quest area where they had killed to quest mob for. I still had the quest undone. I wanted to get it done but no matter what the instance was always cleared of mobs. I logged out couple of times. Broke the party. Ran again to the map area and made a portal out -> Now I cant get in and get spammed with that error message in the chat screen if I try to enter.


Any clues as to what is going on? I broke the game?
It sounds like the instance became corrupted! I'd suggest Ctrl-clicking the entrance in future to create a new area, but I'll look into the instance crash reports.

Getting this more and more now.

I'll be doing a map solo (often after investing a lot of currency) and I'll get an 'unexpected disconnection'.

When relog to the game, I'll have a small rollback in inventory, can enter my lab instance, the map portals are there, but clicking one gives...

Error: Failed to join instance because Disconnected from server.
Error: Failed to join any instances.

...and the portal closes with me still in the lab. Repeat for all portals.

It is getting a bit old, tbh, losing maps like this.

I understand that the game is still in beta, however, I believe the this bug should have a high priority since it happened before.

Now I just lost a map before I even entered it.

Got DC when entering the map first time, restarted my PC.

That instance isn't even on the instance list, only the cleared map before it.

Honestly, lose so many maps and the currencies put into them.

This problem has re-emerged and gotten significantly worse with the fractured mod. PC can't load areas with 923842793784239 corpses in them, crashes, bye bye map. Getting annoying.
Reading into this, apparently it's to prevent disconnect abuse? Preventing abuse is fine, but when the game crashes as often as it does (and I'm crashing A LOT lately), it's kind of ridiculous to punish a large percentage of the player base to prevent a small percentage from abusing something. I'm losing at least 5%, perhaps closer to 10% of my maps to this issue, often with only about a quarter of the map completed.

don't necro-bump threads (revive threads that are long since dead). This post was almost a year old. If you are getting the issue, create your own thread.

As for the actual instance crashes, those are known issues already and there's not much that can be done except wait for GGG to identify and fix the crashing issue. If you look at prior patch notes, you'll see that they often fix instance crashing problems.

If you're just being disconnected but you can join back to the instance and continue where you left off, that is NOT an instance crash. If you are disconnected then all map portals no longer work, or you join the instance and it is reset, then that was an instance crash.
Why would I create a new thread for the exact same issue? There's already a thread that details my issue with screenshots, so I used it.
